What are your thoughts on Gispert cigars, the corona size in particular.

Considering a purchase. Think Thanks dogs

It's a good cigar IF you like it. That's all that counts.

I haven't smoked a Gispert in years.

But I don't recall anything bad about them

Just got off the phone with dpnewell,
the man, the myth. the legend.
He said he loves this cigar, ESPECIALLY in the corona size.

I'd buy just based on that recommendation...

But then I'd be pissed when I found out I paid twice what DP paid...

John, John, John, hubby says this is a good cigar for the price, not that he LOVES them. Not an Undercrown Shade or MF Connie, but a solid Connecticut wrapper smoke. He has tried both the Rob and the Corona, and he definitely prefers the Corona. He says that you should be able to pick these up for under $1.50 each.

I'm rescinding my recommendation to buy.......unless they're cheap......and you prefer Connies.

Dave, hubby says hi. Yes, it's Altadis, but hubby says that they are a solid smoke. Well made and good flavor. He says "what do you expect for a buck thirty two?". Ha, ha.

^Hubby says "no worry" John. Just a little misunderstanding. He smokes them at 5:30 AM while I'm still asleep.

The Gispert is a classic real deal cigar. It gets great reviews from nearly everyone. But i'm sure if I asked about some snooty cigar or trendy-ass cigar like a Gurkha " kings fire' or whatever new crap I wouldn't be getting these bull**** responses

I think that's where Hank is looking for his tea bagging tutorial. He's going for nostalgia.

Meh. Even at a buck fiddy or less each they aren't worth the time imo.

Just to clarify, the Gispert is what I'm talking aboot. Not Auunt Esther or the cookies.

UPDATE:

I just got back from the shop with a Gispert in Churchill size and I'm smoking it right now.

This cigar has a smooth, luscious draw. The conneticut shade wrapper is tan and has a nice sheen to it.

The cigar is delivering some nice cedar and toasty notes with perhaps a delicate hint of a vegetal character.

Will be back with more as I get further in on this beauty.

UPDATE:

At the halfway mark the cigar gets heartier, providing some nourishing coffee flavors. The cigar is still mild, maybe a tad too mild for some, but on this gray Sunday it is a relaxing respite from the drudgery of the work-week

^David here. I've gone through a box of both the Rob and the Corona. I found the Robs to be on the harsh side. The Coronas where nice, smooth and creamy. Both sizes where well made. I'm on my 2nd box of Coronas and will be getting more. Good for my 5:30 AM smoke.
