Hmm, my take on overbidding, unless you really need the stuff, set your price you are willing to pay and don't go over. You get it, awesome. If not, so be it, I don't have to win every single item I bid on, but WTF is up with everyone bidding the moon on LGC Maduros?

I picked up a box from free fall because it was cheaper than bidding on the ones out there available at the time.

Caveat emptor. To many fools bidding. If they can't read is that Cbids fault?

Still, $300 for 3 cigars? That would be heartless. Besides, it's not right to show a box full of cigars in an auction for a single. Easy mistake to make...

I was showing my girlfriend the other day a humidor that I bid on for 17 dollars, it ended up 32 before the bid ended, looked at the bottom and the QB was 28 lol I didn't buy it but was like why????

Sometime the QB is only for some of the items - so if there are 4 available one or 2 may be available for QB. I get annoyed when the QB is paid for the whole lot and they still show the auction.

Here's a slightly different take on overbidding:

Going as "low" as around $160.

Given that we know that when the stars are alligned just right, you face magnetic north and chant the magic phrase, you can get 20 OMB3s (albeit several sizes) for $59 w/shipping....

He probably thought he was bidding on all lots with the single bid and may not have seen the "/ea" at the end.

I'm a completely new to all this and it took me all of 10 mins to figure out. I check the two main sites to see what you would normally pay. Put what ever your looking at under "lot watch" Wait until there's an hour left on the bid, then put your bid in if it's still under priced. Then don't go back.
Why get into a pissing war over something that will come back up the next day.

Not talking

Yeah, that is an about $7.5 "internet retail" cigar. They REALLY need to stop putting full box pictures out there for sales of singles. I know what it says in the small type, but the new phone-bidders that the site is designed to attract are going to miss that, which means customer service having to deal with irate people, often rescinding the bid - as it has been reported by people that they often do - and relisting. All with the attendant bad feelings. Can't be worth the trouble.

Furthermore....

Especially on the cell phone with i's big buttons and headings but small type in any text body, it is not that obvious that this is for a single cigar. The "single" in the heading could mean, to a noob, a single box. and the text description where it says ""one single cigar" is not open unless you click on it and then at the very end of the description. What you see EASILY is a pic of a box of cigars (and ONLY a box of cigars - not even a single off to the side as they often do) and the "Bid to Win" box. Cbid needs to change this.

Doesn't sound like its a problem for cbid. In fact, just the opposite.

Ha! You may be correct. I just imagine they let these people off the hook when they call and complain. Maybe that is not what is happening.

Except it seems to be that they let people off the hook - at least the first time they make such a mistake. That takes time, effort, adjusting the accounting and then relisting, all for nada.

Not for nada... i bet 7 out of 10 people who make the mistake never call cs to have it corrected...

2 things pay the bills here:

1. deceptive marketing practices like pictures of boxes representing single cigar auctions and using old cigar ratings for clearly inferior reblends

2. Charging ridiculous prices for shipping and then using a low cost, inferior shipping method

I wonder how much of the high bids here are drunk buying. It is becoming a national problem with men spending an average of $ 528 a year on drunk buying and most of the bidding here closes after dinner.

I tried to pick up a box of Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduros, wound up being outbid. I went to 75 dollars, but I think the final bid was 200+

received my golden email yesterday with free coupons. Only problem is coupon expired last week. the good news is the email shows prices good through end of March 2018. A first for me, now to the bidding along with all the free stuff.

They let me change free stuff from natural to my favorite, maduro, robusto. and sent box of Padron maduro 3000. Think this is my 25th year to being a member, so patience is beneficial.

Congratulations me and Good job me.

You boys will get the freebies when due.

I sure do, who wants to spend over 3.50 a cigar on daily cigars? Definitely not me, or anyone who has a sense of thriftiness about them.

Hmm, I definitely over bid on one item last week, but then someone outbid me on it. I was trying to snag a fiver of La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amors Reserva So I set my price at 35 tops. Someone spent 38 dollars to snag 4 packs of them.

So I snagged some Camacho Triple Maduros at 22 dollars per fiver instead.

Saw fiver today in two different locations here and there was a ten dollar bid difference. One was that much more than the other. Don't guess some look.

i'm new to the site, but i've found that if you click in the box that you would put your max bid in, on some laptop where you are using the touch pad over a mouse, if you drag your finger up and down the laptop reacts as if you are using the scroll on a mouse. its used to scroll down through a webpage without repeatedly hitting the down arrow.

anyways, if you click in a bid box and then accidentally try to scroll down the page it will actually auto increase or decrease your bid. there were times i saw the bid rapidly rising and i wasn't sure why until i realized it was the scroll pad. it would be incredibly easy to put a max bid in, and then try to scroll down the page and not realize you just added two hundred bucks to your bid
