before you get upset with my lack of respect for the dead, Frank Avruch (a neighbor of mine when I was a kid) the original Boston TV Bozo the Clown has passed on to the Big Top in the sky.

Not sure, but seem to recall his was the original Bozo tv show.

I remember watching Bozo in the early 70's was a different actor but as they say, The world's most famous clown for sure. Good memories as a kid.

Does Keith Jackson know that Bozo said Whoa Nelly?

Pretty sure my intense dislike of all things clown began with Bozo

It's not all that much more than 11 years before Willard Scott gets to announce his own 100th b-day, is it?

probably was in KFM...the original Groove Tube was a TV experience, and I believe much of it was used in or at least inspired several skits of the movie a couple of years later. In Boston, The Groove Tube played in a storefront makeshift "livingroom" on Brighton Ave near B.U...IIRC.

Viewers entered a carpeted room with pillows all over the floor, a fridge filled with sodas, and a television set.

Someone entered the room after we were all situated on the floor, turned on the tv and shut off the lights.

first thing I recall was an official warning that stated "violators will be persecuted".

and then the parodies/funny commercials etc began. But it was not a real movie theater...I'm stalling trying to remember the name of the place we watched it.

I'll be back.

not what I meant...
So Groove Tube was like 3 years earlier, by Ken (?) Shapiro, who died recently.
I don't think he was involved in KFM but must have allowed/sold rights to a few scenes...I never saw KFM but believe the Sex Games bit with live coverage like the Olympics was in both.

from wikipedia:
The film is number 87 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies,"[4] and is considered, along with The Groove Tube,[citation needed] to be one of the groundbreaking films of the entire spoof and mockumentary genres of film making.

The Video Theater, of course.

Here is a bad review by someone without a sense of humor from 1971 when I saw G T
