Welcome to the nut house, Hoss. 25 years old? You're just a kid, but a big'm. John should be charged with child abuse, for posting that Thonginator link. I saw it years ago, and still can't get the image out of my head.

Anyhow, tell us what you like to smoke.

Haha thank you. Yea I guess you could say that.

Well.. I haven't got a chance to really branch out much.. when I first started I would mostly try flavored cigars from CAO and the Drew Estate Naturals. Then I thought I liked obsidians... turns out I got tired of them quick. Was having humidor issues with my glass top so I pretty much just stopped all together. There was a lot of stuff I didn't understand back then.

So now here comes a month ago.

I go to my local B&M and grab a Liga 9 Robusto. Fire it up. And was blown away.

So this leads me to now. Fully intrigued into cigars again. I never retrohaled before now. I know what I'm doing more now . (So I think)

As of right now I know I like more of a full-bodied smoke. I'm used to stout beers. I've been struggling with what RH to keep my stock at in my tupperdor.. so I really haven't found many that I truly like yet other than the one Liga that got my hooked again, and a Roma craft CroMagnon both from my b&m. I did get to try a Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project straight out of the shipping box from here and enjoyed that also. So right now my tupperdor is going to sit for a couple weeks and let everything acclimate to the 65% bovedas.

I know that was alot of info but that's the best way I can say my experience has been and what I like.

OK, Hoss, take it from me and others who have been where you are. Buy samplers and try everything you can to get an idea of what is out there. Here is a fact, and there are many here who will attest to it - YOUR TASTE IN CIGARS WILL CHANGE OVER THE NEXT YEAR OR TWO. What you enjoy today, you may not care for tomorrow. Because of that, do not pick up boxes of cigars right now, as you may kick yourself for doing so down the road. Stay with 5 packs and samplers for the first year or so.

65% is a good starting point. I personally keep my coolers and humis in the low 60s. I think you'll find the majority of FOGS here usually don't go above 65%, and some like it lower.

It sounds like you've been tying some nice cigars. Enjoy, and we're here for any questions you may have.

David, you are too darn nice.....kind of refreshing...especially with all these DB's floating around here. hahaha

Hoss, dang dude, you are a baby. I thought I was young on this site at 35. You make ME feel old. Jerk.

That whole Liga line is fantastic, haven't had one that I didn't like.

Not sure how much you spend on cigars, but I just had my first AF Anejo about a week ago and it was fantastic. Nice and strong.

Some stuff to check out:
Oliva V Melanio
Opus X
Oliva Saison (good cheap smoke)
Partagas Black (another good cheap one)
Just about any AF that has a black or white band around the bottom.
Jericho Hill
Padron (especially the 1964 anniversary maduro)
Just about any LFD

Thanks guys, I do appreciate the tips!

And to Hank, haha, pretty soon you'll be getting aarp papers in the mail Angel .I don't mind spending money on a quality smoke for a nice occasion (just don't tell the woman). I've been dying to get some nice weather here to go out and try a padron. One day I'll get that 50 year anniversary maduro. Right now our temps have been 30s up to 80s now back to 30s. Luckily in a couple days we'll get up to mid 60s..

I feel you there on the weather. We hit close to 80 a couple days last week and then we got snow the last few days. Now back up to 50 today, down to 40 tomorrow and then it is looking up from then on out...at least for the next couple weeks. I am lucky though because I have a heated man cave that I can smoke cigars in. Although I haven't been able to get out as much as I want recently due to a stupid chest cold. My body can't take these weather changes.

Hank- so you feel my pain I see. I'm also getting over a little cold. My gf and our 2 year old are pretty sick though. Trying to avoid being within arms length of them lol. Luck you, we live in a small apartment so I'm stuck to outside or vehicle smoking

Also understand having little kids and them getting everyone sick. I have a 6 year old daughter, 4 year old son and twin 2 year old girls. Constantly having sickness roll through our house.

Jes- actually yes. I live on the south west side of topeka. Technically 29th st and Wanamaker. 66614 zip.

Hank - man, we have moved my daughter to a new daycare this past week and I think something is going around in there. Grrr. Last daycare she was at she broke her left collar bone late last year in November and just a month ago she got pushed into the corner of a wall and split her forehead open (needed stitches) .. so we pulled her. She's been through quite alot lately. But she's always happy.

That is crazy. Makes me happy that we have an in home sitter. No major injuries there. Knock on wood. Glad she is ok.

It was "fantastic" when the twins were born. We weren't planning on having more kids after the first two (or at least not at that time). But my wife "went off birth control because we didn't have the money" (**cough**bs**cough). Anyways, we find out we are having a third. Since the first two pregnancies went really well, they opted to wait until later in the pregnancy to do the first ultrasound. I didn't go with her because I didn't have any time off work. She sent me a picture of a box of double stuffed oreos. Obviously I was confused, so she sent me the ultrasound with two little skull rings. I didn't believe her for about 4-5 hours...then realized I could zoom in and see the patients name...it was indeed my wife. So not only were we not planning on having another, we end up with two. The "fantastic" part was having 4 kids under 4 years old. That was "fun". Crazy times in our house, especially now that they are feeding off each other and are insane. I can't wait for them all to be 6 years old and older. haha

Haha, double stuff Oreos is a really good idea for that. I guess you could think youre lucky and didn't have triplets. It's stressing enough just with one and a cranky girlfriend, let alone 4 kids all around the same age. Me and my woman have been together for almost 8 years now, not married. We weren't really planning on having a child yet but if it happened, it happened, and it did happen. I've never met a happier kid than her though lol on a side note... I'm so tired of bubble guppies

I was pretty tired of Bubble Guppies as well with our first two, luckily our twins never got into them. So many shows that I am tired of. At least we have Netflix which has more shows than they could dream of...which makes them want something different all the time. Pretty Tired of Justin Time Go though. Ugh.

Day Care Centers are downright friggin' scary !
I am SO glad that my wife and I are retired and can be full time babysitters to our only granddaughter. (That's her, looking over my shoulder, in my avatar.) I'm glad you're daughter is okay!

Cost prohibitive.
Would have to ship "overnight express" to the tune of about $70 for postage.
BUT . . . I COULD teach you how to make one, (for a price, of course) ! Whistle
It's all about the PROPER ingredients and preparation !

That is fantastic. hahahahahha

Think of it this way. Shipping it overnight would be much more economical than driving there to have one. You should take him up on it. ha

Learning how to cook one, (it's easy), is the way to go. Chef ThumpUp
