I get a similar experience whenever I lose the charts where I write down the order of the disbanded cigars in my humidors.

Some of the cigars that I have smoked don't have those "distinct" flavor profiles you always hear about (leather, cocoa, etc) but rather they touch off a memory or two. Those are the best. I have some one note cigars that I love and the reason why is because they take me right back to that memory.

Cigars are a wonderful thing.

Rick's blind cigar #3:

5×50 robusto with a double cap and a fragile tan wrapper that has some random brown sunspots. Spots never really effect any preconceived notions I have, but there's not much prelight aroma other than light barnyard and light ammonia. Roll is well done with the bunching at the foot looking like a ying/yang but the draw is much easier than I prefer. Paired with Aberlour 12 because I'm off and it's 12 somewhere.

1/3rd: initial puffs are nutty charred oak. This initially tastes like a connie wrapped cigar, I don't like Connies. Burn is a bit wavy but there is a slight breeze in the garage. There was a taste that reminded me of Illusione that left as soon as I tasted it. We're back to the connie notes. Decent strength. Some pencil lead and pepper adding to the charred oak.

2/3rd : getting a weird burn line in the ash, looks like the ash got stabbed and it's into the tobacco 1/8th of an inch too. See this sometimes with veins burning like this but the wrapper didn't really have any visible. Binder or second wrapper? Well I started drawing lighter and it's helping alot, nutty taste is back a bit, stab wound healed but there is now a tear in the wrapper between the burn line and band (paper Rick made) isn't scary tear but it's slightly bulged.

3/3rd : ash FINALLY fell. Didn't mention it due to my cursing myself in the other reviews. Finally started the scotch. Pairs real nice. Wish the charcoal oak wasn't there but it's my taste of connie wrappers. There is a very subtle sweetness poking in, but barely. Burn has constantly corrected itself and I've never retouched or purged. Finished with an 1 left no changes.

Overall, well made cigar that I enjoyed but wouldn't buy due to the profile. My guess is mid level.

Cigar #1 high end (HdM CC?)

Cigar #2 yard gar (no idea)

Cigar #3 mid level (no idea).

package from stinger includes local beer and beer coozie that is hanging out in the fridge, hot sauce that looks intense and some solid looking smokes (will update later)

the unbanded roster include a lancero, a torpedo and smoke #3

Torpedo 6" x 50/52 rg darker wrapper, but unsure if a maduro

prelight - firm roll, oily, solid construction has an excellent feel in the hand. liga 9 is what it is reminding me of based off appearance and initial aroma. angled cut with guillotine cutter. no beverage while walking the pupper. this is going to be oily as many pre light puffs are staring to have the oil come off the wrapper.

1st 3rd - this thing is very earthy and the smoke is almost chewy. its got a lot of body to it. it is surprisingly not very intense or in your face thou. the ash lasted a little until i knocked it off the cigar reaching cross body. fail. i try a retrohale and it is heavy black pepper. close enough to almost entice a sneeze. small burn issues, but i would blame it on the windy walk condition. there are faint tastes espresso and maybe bitter dark chocolate.

2nd - there is a side of cigar that is slowing down, which turnund out to be from a vien a split. the cigar is trying to correct its self, and for the most part it is. needed one touch up. this was the also the time i notice a very bitter taste that stopped me mid puff. total flavor change, if only for a puff. the earthiness is still my most noticeable taste with pepper on the retrohale.

final
not much change in flavor profile. the pepper is the still the most noticeable flavor on the retrohale. the strength is now ramping up to the high range of me enjoyment. i slow down the smoking in case that is the reason, but there is little effect on it. it continues to increase, and once my lips and mouth begin to tingle, i abandon the smoke with a little over an inch left.

overall
this was a solid smoke. to me it seemed one dimensional, with the same taste remaining. strength wise it seemed a medium to maybe med. full that could have ramped up full at the end when i put it down. the construction was solid, and needed little baby sitting. reminded me of an undercrown/rp edge/AB (more of a 2nd i bought on cbid that didnt disclose the blend but i think a tempus)

i will reserve judgement to which category i thought it was until after i smoke the other two.

thanks stinnger, did not disappoint, but i should wait for better weather on the next 2

Smoke # 3

toro plus at 6.5" x 52/54. dark wrapper firm roll, V- cut paired with a Mexican coke and then a pepsi.

Prelight is a earthy tobacco taste, with a easy open draw. very wholesome cigar

1st 3rd - first tastes are heavy earthy tobacco. reminds me of the woods during deer season. burn starts well, hits a hard spot a water inch in, and i end up cutting off the tip instead of charring the wrapper so early in. relight helps to fix this and the smokes continues to roll. the strength is easily a medium, and its putting off a lot of smoke, which i like. Earthiness and tobacco are the main prevalent flavors. i give the retrohale a try and boy did bite off more then i could chew. super pepper bomb. reminds me when i tried a retohale for the first time with an LFD. yes i am dumb. boy did that hurt and burn

2nd- requires a touch up around the half way point. not sure what im doing wrong, but i one wrapper side just didnt want to light. i am really liking the pairing with the coke, the sweetness of the coke seems to be taming the cigar that is pumping up in strength. i try half retrohales, and the pepper is there. the earthiness is there. the tobacco is there, and leather makes a cameo every now and then, but it is really a minor taste between the earth and tobacco

final - continues to ramp up in strengthen and boy is getting to me. for the first time, the smoke is starting to warm up (started when Rory tee'd up on 4th, and he is putting on the 16th now). this is the earth and tobacco show all day. easily now one of the fullest cigars i have had, and the tingles are starting to get in. drank all the coke, and the pepsi doesnt have the same sweetness to tame the smoke. Reed 2 putts for the masters ship and thats all i can take at this point. nubbed under an inch. boy was this an ass kicker.

overall
i liked the amount of smoke this produced it was almost like a fog machine. it was much stronger then when i generally go for, and it was definitely on the fuller side that left me down for the count. definitely need to work up for this. thanks stinger.

Great reviews Jaime and I'm glad to see that you enjoyed them.

Cigar Banded #1 was a Crowned Heads 4 Kicks, Ecuador Habano wrapper....Medium....4/17/2017

Cigar Banded #2 was Montecristo Pilotico Pepe Mendez,Ecuador Sumatran wrapper....High end...8/15/2017

Cigar Banded #3 was a CAO Black,Ecuador Conny wrapper.....Yard Gar....9/19/2017

I really enjoy those CAO Blacks when I'm busy and not giving the cigar 100% attention, because they taste great and seem to take care of themselves burn wise....
The Montecristo I really enjoy when I have more time to relax and focus on the smoke.....I get a caramel/toffee kind of flavor from these myself...
and the 4 Kicks to me is a good cigar I can savor, but not worried if I get called away and forget, as they are not to bad if I have to relight after an hour or so away from it....
Anyway, great reviews, always nice to see others perceptions of the cigars I smoke...
I really enjoyed this and looking forward the the next one...Thanks for setting this up ChazboBeer

Oh,by the way Jaime, Have you had any Blue Waffles lately? Anxious

I smoked #3 from Dan.
46x6.5
Dark toothy wrapper, single cap, some veins and firm to the touch. Little light in the hand.
Punch cut paired with a Captain & coke.
Cold draw I taste earthy hay. First inch and it’s putting out ample smoke. Notes of earth, coco and grapefruit.
After the half way mark it is burning perfect, medium body and flavors haven’t changed much at all.
This cigar isn’t holding my interest to much. Would be a good cigar to smoke while doing something outside.
Don’t know what the brand is but would guess it is the yard gar.
Thanks DanHerfing

Finally smoked #1 from Dan today.
Size 5x46
Wrapper-light color, light in the hand and firm with no soft spots. Triple cap with a few imperfections with wrapper.
Punch cut and paired with a Bayern Dragon’s Breath brew.
Cold draw releases a sweet tobacco flavor.
Starts off with a mild hit of spice and sweet bread notes. Mild in strength with ample amount of smoke.
First third producing leathery taste with carmamel notes. Minor touch up needed to straighten the burn line.
Spice has disappeared with a crooked ash hanging. Half way mark and sweet bread is still present,
The ash finally fell on my hoidie🙄
Coming into the final third I taste some creamy leather as well. This is a very pleasing mild cigar. I would give it a B+ in flavor but a C+ in wrapper apperearance due to the blemishes and crooked ash.
My guess is this was the medium priced cigar but don’t know what exactly I smoked. I would smoke more of these especially in the morning or empty stomach. After an enjoyable hour I put it down with about a half inch left.
Thanks Dan, looking forward to smoking the other two.

#2 from Dan
6x52 dark toothy wrapper, no blemishes, firm & heavy in the hand
Straight cut paired with a Moose Drool Brew
Cold draw was coco notes.
Once lit this puppy started billowing lots of thick smoke. First few notes produced dark chocolate with earthy tones.
Perfect draw and burn, meaty and full body. Glad I lit this after dinner. Just under an hour I hit the half way mark with thick creamy smoke and hints of mild spice. Some toasted nut with roasted coffee bean appear. After an hour and half this thing is giving me a nicotine buzz, wow! This was a complex tasty cigar.
My guess would be it is the high end cigar maybe a Drew Estates Liga Orivada #9

Received a few in trades a few years back and loved em. Bought a fiver of the OR off someone, this was the last of them. Your review was spot on. Checked the band's on my desk to be sure.

relaxation is not in the picture. was recruited to take my niece to soccer practice under the guise that i can be outside long enough to have a cigar. they lied to me. spent too much time having to argue that a public park used for a school soccer practice after school hours is not a school zone. then spent the other half of practice helping the coach (who knew less about soccer and coaching than smoking laws) run practice after juggling a ball while walking the dog and texting. she was surprised i could not be bought with some team clothes to be an assistant.

i have less hope for that team then for that attempted cigar. thankfully i didn't light it yet as i was tattled on while just cutting it.

i will get to it thou. hopefully sooner then later

Lancero to follow shortly when spring comes back to Chicago

smoke #2, the lancero.

review of 3rd cigar smoked

Lancero

prelight
pigtail cap, darker wrapper but not a full maduro. firm construction, small veins, good prelight draw. earthy taste, but not not getting much else. faint hay/grass. paired with an avery Liliko'i Kepolo. looks really like a JH 12 honest men.

1st 3rd
earthy taste. developes as a cool smoke. very little pepper on the retrohale. putting out a fair amount of smoke, and does not get harsh with multiple puffs. ash holds strong easily into the 2nd third. unsure if i am getting any sweetness, could be the beer. not tasty much subtle flavors.

2nd 3rd
Earthyness and tobacco continue to dominate. ash surprisingly holds to the halfway mark. switched to water and now get the occasional sweet note, but still no pepper, which is what i was actually expecting. continues to smoke cool and put out lots of smoke.

final 3rd
not much flavor change, and i must say it is something i am enjoy. its just a solid good smoke. went out once from probable neglect. unsure if its the cigar or my lack of taste. this was earthy and tobacco dominated. enjouyed. left at the inch and half mark. smoked for an hour and 40 min

overall
i enjoyed it. i didntick up on any subtle hints or other tastes apart from a dominant earthiness and tobacco. sweetness made an appearance, along with either dark chocolate/esspresso in the form of minor sweetness. didnt get much pepper, which surprised me, so leads me to think i was a bit congested so i may not yet be fully back. i have had a number of 12 honest men, but none without scotch or whiskey or my full wits about me, but boy is it spot on with the construction.

thanks for the smokes Stinger.

last time you played hard and fast with the price points and left me really wrong, and i think you did so again.

i know the lancero cannot be the yard gar due to the construction costs alone, but im confused with the lack of complex taste i wasnt able to get.

the torp #1 - high end complex and oily - really reminds me of a liga 9
the lance #2 - the mid range- solid smoke but i think you played with the rules once again and snuck it in one me.
the other one #3 - the yard gar range - this on is throwing me for a loop since i know a lance cant be a yard gar. this was a smoke i want to revisit at the end of the summer after some 50 sticks under my belt, but was a little too much for me at this time of the year. but man were the good things about it good.

and the unveil is - well im as bad at this as ever before

#1 the torpedo - np bold by nish patel

old by Nish Patel starts with a smooth, dark brown and well-aged Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Take a peek under the hood and you will find a double binder, one San Andres and one Connecticut, and a balanced medley of Nicaraguan long-fillers from Jalapa and Esteli. The flavors are distinctive, and include white pepper, cocoa, sweet spice, and roasted coffee. Hearty, BOLD, and intense, it's hard not to take notice of this unique blend.

#2 the lancero - LFD Cameroon cabinets

La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet Lancero: the cold draw reveals intense notes of cocoa. Despite the small ring gauge, the chocolate flavor is so intense that it seems to be in front a chocolate bar. The cigar starts out spicy. After some puffs into the first third, the spicyness is still well present and accompanies every puff. They are followed by resin wood notes and the background delivers earthy aromas. The strength is slightly over the medium (3,5/5). The spiciness fades a little in the second third, but stays present in the background. The resin wood is now followed by herbs. The strength increases, reaching a medium full level (4/5). The final third sees the spicy notes coming back and moving to the foreground, followed by intense cocoa. The herbal notes move to the background. The strength stays medium full (4/5).

#3 tatuaje Cojuno 2003

The Tatuaje Cojonu 2003 is the first of a series by Pete Johnson that started in 2003 and is released every few years, with the blend changing with each release. The Cojonu series is a stronger and spicier version of the regular Tatuaje cigars, and the Tatuaje Cojonu 2003 is no exception, with its Ecuador Habano wrapper and a blend of carefully chosen Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The cigar is a 6 1/2 inch by 52 ring parejo, which after the initial peppery start that is characteristic of Pepin Garcia's cigars, develops a rich, complex, nutty flavor for a great smoking experience. http://www.cigarinspector.com/tatuaje/cojonu-2003

well the one thing that was correct was that you again played hard and fast with the rules sending a mid range, a high range and a unicorn.

only thing i got right was that the tat cojuno was was indeed a strong anf full cigar lol. i so good at this.

seemed to get the pepper bomb from the the nish patel as well. definately bombed on the LFD lacenro which means i need to have more of those, lfd's and other lanceros. thanks for spoiling me yet again stinger, and how did you stumble upon those lanceros? starting to get the idea you may be an LFD inside guy based off the RMCF you keep sending as tag alongs. i feel like there is a real story here.

Glad you liked them Yaro. Not to be uppity but I don't have too many yard gars in the stash. So, you get a reasonable assortment of cigars where one is lower, one in the middle and one higher. I was lucky enough to go to the RMCF a couple years back and made sure I went home with a healthy supply of special edition LFDs. I do like the LFDs, when I first started out, they were a bit on the "too strong side". But now they are right in my wheelhouse.

Right now, I am in Germany for work and will be bringing back some CCs. A nice little random assortment. Mmmmmm mmmmm good.
