Four Square 2004 and Zinfandel Cask Blend.

Zinfandel (spelling?) was not for me. I ended up ordering a case of the 2004 although I didn't pick them up yet. My local liquor store that shall not be named hooked me up really good on these ones.

I inquired about Four Square and they didn't stock it. They emailed their distributor and requested sample bottles. They sampled the bottles (barely took a pour out of each) and said I could HAVE the remainder! Pretty sweet. I let them give the Zinfandel to a more experienced rum fan as that **** was not for me but I'm digging this 2004.

Pyrat xo reserve last night.

it's ok, many better, but is is drinkable neat, goes with some cigars well, and for some reason my local packy has it for $18 all the time, usually upwards of $30 elsewhere...but not worth the upcharge.

found myself in Costco today, bought and poured a nice amount of the 1.75 of Kirkland Spiced Rum (I never drink spiced rum), but it was $15.
92 proof, primarily rum and vanilla flavors, seems to be stuff that would pair with most cigars.

Ready for a nap!

Copy that.

Out of the Ron Abuelo 12 Anos. Digging the 7 anos more, currently. As you'd expect, not as smooth, more of a bite, in a good way though. Wish Rum was more popular. It seemed to be more en vogue a few years ago, but now it seems to have fizzled again. Still a few fans out there though, Bought a bottle of Zacapa XO a while back, and the guy at the Spirits Shoppe almost refused to sell it to me because I joked that I was going to mix it with coke. He was seriously offended. lol

For some reason I prefer solera 23 over xo...but sometimes it's just too sweet to pair with a cigar.

That's my biggest issue with rum and cigars, to be honest. Not always a great pairing, but I really just can't get excited about many bourbons, and I haven't tried enough good brandy to even offer an opinion on that. I think rum gets overlooked as a cigar companion, which is odd, because it seems like they came into prevalence in European society around the same time... I like it with something dark and bold, for sure. Oliva V gets mentioned with Rum quite often, and it is one of my favorites, but I am going to have to experiment a bit more. I'm sure I can find something I like at least as much. Last one I dipped in rum was a Cu-Avana Intenso. Interesting.

Myers Dark Rum with some ginger ale

Not a very good mix with a cigar. Wasn't bad but won't pair that combo with a smoke again.

Much better with a cigar than my earlier drink with ginger ale.

Pyratt XO. Tried to pair it with an AJ Fallen Angel. Didn't work too well. Good sipper, but too sweet for most cigars.
