I'm a long ways from outraged, but I do think its rather sad.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/05/02/boy-scouts-scouts-bsa-girls-joining-cub-scouts/572036002/

One of those things in largely partisan debates that I just cannot get my head around is how we are no longer allowed to acknowledge that boys and girls are different....never mind the cloudy world of 'gender identity', what about chromosomes and science and stuff? Even having considered some of what Victor has written, I'm pretty perplexed

Xer conversing with a Millennial.

Xer: "I heard you just had a baby."

Millennial: "Yes I did."

Xer: "Boy or a Girl?"

Millennial: "It's sex is female, but we won't know it's gender for several years."

The BSA has been doing this already for decades with the "Explorer" program (Sea Scouts, Air Scouts, Medical, Fire etc...).

I don't see a big deal so long as there is proper chaperoning.

I'm not worried about the supervision....I just think its sad that it is no longer ok to have an organization or program that is specifically for 'boys' or for 'girls'.

Agreed. Venture Scouts actually https://www.scouting.org/programs/venturing/. I was an adult scout leader for several years and girls have been participating in the Boy Scouts for some time. When I went to the High Adventure Base Camp in 2014 with my son I was surprised by the number of girls there. They obviously had separate baths, etc... fog

Oh, ok. I misunderstood what you were getting at, Dave.

I see your point. Not sure how I feel, as this was a voluntary management decision, not a court order. I'm thinking follow the money. BSA might be a non-profit, but people who work there still get paid. It still costs to operate. More membership = more revenue.

I wish the people that support this stuff would quit picking away with little bites. Let's just go with total gender neutrality. Make everything unisex, bathrooms, athletics, clothing....everything. That's what they want. Just nut up and come out and say it. You parents that want your little girls to be feminine and lady like, shame on you.

^^^ Bwahahaha. I see that they have upgraded the expensive machine. When my kid was born it went "Bloop" now it goes "Bing" way better for sure.

That reminds me. I got to get the Beta-Max copy of my daughters birth.

I see this as another sign of what we have become. It saddens me. A high school near me changed the picture of its mascot so it looks androgynous. It previously looked male. Another sad sign of what we have become.

meh

There are other options

Reap what you sow and let time be the judge. If they don't even exist in 10 years I won't miss em.

I'll bet my mom has badges and scarf and stuff somewhere.

My buddies and I have been going back and forth on this for the past week. One is upset because they're ruining the "boys club" the other, who's an Eagle Scout is all for it and I've been playing up both sides.

Honestly, Scouts BSA offers less socializes and politicized crap than Girl Scouts so hopefully Scouts BSA will run girl scouts out of business because they're the ones advocating all this gender neutrality crap to begin with and they're enraged because it destabilizes their base to produce future feminists.

This isn't a unisex political bid, moreso, Scouts BSA is just a better organization and it's focused on kids having fun, instead of being political.

They fully intend to keep girls/boys in separate groups.
