No. I learned years ago that I want absolutely nothing to do with you.

I don't communicate with you. I don't direct any comments your way. I expect you to do the same.

If you're to stupid to realize I want nothing to do with a disgusting piece of crap like you from my silence, then perhaps I needed to be more clear.

IDGAF what you think.

This isn't your board. You don't get to make the rules.

You want to act like a uber creep, like you have that's on YOU!

You were wrong by the definition of double standard. You still are too.

You're just a disgusting piece of crap. Your poor understanding of the world means nothing in a discussion between people who understand logic and respectable discussion.

You have proven years ago that you do not deserve respect.

Things don't need to be identical to be equal.
Your inability to recognize partisan double standards is cute.

Steeped with irony.
Unintentional, but irony nonetheless.

You're splitting hairs tail.
The point is that for a double standard you have to be able to compare two things and say that the response is not equal while the trigger is "equivalent".

In your mind the triggers for these two events are equivalent.

There is apparently no convincing you that they are not equivalent.

It doesn't matter if you don't see it.

Actually, I don't see them as equivalent, except in their importance.
Neither matters me in the least.

In regards to how terrible they are?
Bee's was far worse than Barr's.

Consider:
1. it was presented during her program.
2. by definition, that involves foresight. She's not an improv comic.
3. You can't even repeat it. You can't say it in mixed company. You can't write it on a cigar forum.

Barr's aimed at the looks of one woman.
Face it. VJ has an unusual face in many of her pictures. And by unusual, I mean like a mask. A mask used in sci-fi films circa 1970.
You can deny that, sure.
But you'd be lying.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/five-myths-about-valerie-jarrett/2014/11/14/fbffd40a-6ab6-11e4-b053-65cea7903f2e_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.cb7dd7d3dbd2

Or even on wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_Jarrett

I've never met her. Hell, I never even heard of her before all this. She has a lot of photos that DON'T look like a bad hollywood movie mask. But it's not a stretch to say she does, based on much of what's out there.

This isn't Don Imus saying Nappy Headed Ho's in regards to a ladies basketball team. That comment target a group of women based on their race.

Roseanne is an unfunny beast of woman. But her comment didn't target VJ based on her race as much as it did her looks.

A better argument to "prove" it's not a double standard is that perhaps ABC and TBS have different values.
And maybe that's true.
But that doesn't explain the disproportional outcry from Joe Public.
Ignore the far right and far left. Too many of those in the middle are so far gone with TDS it reminds me of when Bill Clinton convinced them that he didn't have sexual relations and it mattered what the definition of "is" is.

Same people.
Same partisan reaction to what MSM tells them.
But when somebody speaks against what the media tells them, people like you lament because you can't convince me otherwise.

All you've done tail is prove you don't understand the difference in the insults. Saying a black person looks like a monkey carries too much historical weight.just because you think she actually looks like one isn't really the point.

Again... Your inability to see this doesn't mean it's not there.

But I don't think she looks like a monkey. She looks like the friggin characters in the movie.
Are you too stupid to understand that?
Honest question.
Because this isn't the first time I said it, yet you haven't grasped it. Tell me I'm wrong. That you don't agree. But don't twist it into something it's not just to make your feeble point.

Because we're not even discussing this if Roseanne called her a cross between an ape and the muslim brotherhood.
It's only because she DOES resemble the movie masks that the joke would work (if it were funny).

You're trying too hard to find racism.
And in the process you're ignoring the major point regarding the double standard in the media.

Your argument is that because it's accurate it isn't racist?

It's clear you aren't going to understand this. Others have tried explaining it to you. I'm not going to be able to do a better job.

You can go on believing that this was totally not a racist joke by Barr, and therefore it must be a double standard that she got in trouble and bee didn't.

But that won't make it true.

A dude in the middle of nowhere is convinced the Earth is flat. He built a rocket so he could see from a high elevation... Even with that information he still believes it is flat.

So why wasn't Jemelle Hill fired for calling president Trump a white supremicist? That certainly was a racial insult equally as offensive as Roseanne Barr's.

Joe, Rosanne's tweet was racist. I am sorry you do not see that. I really do not see any gray area here. What I do see is a double standard. Jemelle Hill should have been fired for her racist statement. Samantha Bee should have been fired for he vulgar offensive statement. Or all three should have retained their jobs.

This is America, I hated that the Nazi's marched in Skokie. It made me proud they were allowed to march in Skokie. Just because someone is extremely offensive does not mean he or she should be limited.

... pretty sure calling someone a white supremacist isn't racist....

And no one is being limited by the government. Disney makes a financial decision based on the public reaction to their star. Just as Bees employer did. Just as the NFL did...

There is no restrictions from anyone creating a network that hires only people who make racist tweets. Just as there is no restrictions from anyone creating a network and hiring only people who tweet that the president is a racist. Just as there's no restriction keeping the NFL from requiring that all players kneel during the anthem....

Talk about trying too hard...smh...

People who consistently deny racism exists conveniently overlook the power differential involved in the dynamics...those in power tend to cling to it, and malign those who aspire to gain an equal footing...

That's not what TG is saying here. What he is saying is that he doesn't think Rosanne's intentions were to be racist with her statement not that he doesn't believe there is racism. For once I agree with TG and find every point Victor tries to make here just a twist on words and insulting to everyone that doesn't view life in his way.

Racism will always exist in some way shape or form, there is no way to eliminate people that hate. However, racism is a hot topic right now because of social media and the speed of which news travels with technology today. I do believe we, as a culture are working to understand and accept all the differences that we have as a melting pot culture for the most part. I actually think that what Victor is saying here is more close minded then what TG is trying to explain to him. I get tired of hearing everything is racist anymore, for example the Redskins having to change their name. Move along and quit being so sensitive about every little word that comes out of everyone's mouth. I am not even sure what I say to describes others that are different than me without offending people anymore, and that includes religion and ethnicity. In my eyes this is being played out through the media in order to create a smokescreen while the powers at be get away with whatever they want because we as a community fail to see that we need to unite regardless of opinions in order to put this place back on the right path.

This thread should be in the political section because I would have never seen it or voiced my opinion if it was because I know those conversations are beyond rationalization.

A cross between the planet of the apes and the Muslim brotherhood.

Clearly racist dog whistle language to denigrate a political player. And not the first example of it.

Intentional or merely repeated due to following folks that say things like this intentionally doesn’t matter much to me. These are very specific thoughts tied together. I’m s very much a racist statement whether Rosanne is a racist or not.

Bee? Vulgar, inappropriate etc. very much premeditated. Very different situation in my mi d but I do think she deserved some sort of repercussion that didn’t seem to happen. Maybe not on the same level because I don’t see it as apples and apples at all, but she did get a bye.

Very thoughtful post. Few things: Barr's remark was reckless. I know It's part of her comedic m.o. to shock, but this tweet was laced with a clear racial bias. Sure, not like something a clansman would say, but carelessly and essentially the same ie: black people resemble monkeys. If it wasn't intended that way then I suspect she doesn't realize she's a bit racist. Kind of like a few folks at cbid. So obviously I can't give TG a pass on this. I understand his rationale but reject it. It's not up to white folks to say what's offensive to black people. Ask them. They're sensitive about these "simian"comparisons. Nuff said.
Just want to add that it's clear that as a society we've come long way, become much more tolerant of ethnic and racial differences since our founding. Even in my life! I think eventually we'll work out the still-sticky business of political correctness. I realize we've hit a speed bump recently but I don't blame the media. The media hasn't changed. I blame....

No. Not Obama. Trump. Trump who said there were “very fine people” on both sides at the white-supremacist rally, defended Confederate monuments, pardoned racist former sheriff Joe Arpaio, described African nations as “****hole” countries and vilified African American NFL players who are peacefully protesting police brutality by saying they “shouldn’t be in the country.

Trump who calls certain immigrants “animals” and complains that people in sanctuary cities are “breeding” like, well, animals. Who claims it’s only MS-13 gangsters whom he is referring to as “animals,” as if that somehow makes it okay to employ the kind of dehumanizing language used by ethnic cleansers from Rwanda to Nazi Germany. But he is seeking to make these outlaws, who make up less than 1 percent of all gang members in the United States, the symbols of undocumented immigrants.

This year, there are at least 10 white supremacists running for office ...

Trump has normalized racism. Yeah, Obama being black might have exacerbated race relations, but you have to admit, clearly, there were many people who from day one hated having a black president. There was that. Undeniable, right? I mean no one here of course but...
Being a black man in America, do you really think THAT was his intention? To make it tougher for his race, his kids?I dont. So no. Not Obama. Trump.

Some of the above paraphrased and plagetized from the Washington Post so...attack
