Trumpians don't see this as an issue of race. Trump has a long history of racist statements and behavior, but he is blind and deaf to it all, as are Trumpians...the whole "NFL protest thing" is about racial relations in the US...not some LAM back-up QB...not after many NFL players embraced the cause after Trump ignored the core message by the protesters and politicized it by saying "fire the SOB's"...

Trump and some of the cons who don't recognize free speech rights among minorities turned the protests by some, mostly black NFL players, into a referendum on patriotism. That is much easier to do than to engage in an actual exchange of ideas about assessing the crux of the protests: disparate treatment of blacks and minorities by some law enforcement agencies. Because this issue has racial implications, Trump and the Trumpians deny that there is a problem....

The first patriots, the revolutionary founding fathers, held free speech in such high regard that they listed it as the first protected right. Looking through the entire First Amendment...don't see patriotism...

President Trump will continue to hit National Anthem debate through midterms, source says
From CNN's Jim Acosta, Kevin Liptak and Liz Landers

A source close to the White House says the President plans to continue to pound the NFL National Anthem issue through the midterms.

Another person familiar with his thinking says Trump has touted this issue before as something that could help him in the midterms, and wants to keep it in the bloodstream.

Sen. Cory Gardner was asked about whether this issue would help the GOP pick up senate seats in November — and he didn’t say no.

“The American people know that this is an issue is something that they’ve seen in the NFL. They’ve seen on TV. It’s been in the news. Stand up for the National Anthem, that’s what I would do.”

And it fits neatly on a hat: Stand Up For Our National Anthem

Good marketing.

I get it. TDS.

If your tv is broken are you going to go to Taco Bell to tell people about it?

We're talking about paid professional athletes paid to play a game. They're not the brightest bulbs in the chandelier. They're conditioned to play a game not deliver a socially conscious message. People wonder why patriotism seeps into the conversation...its because they choose to show their backsides while it's playing. Not thinking for one moment why Americans are pissed about what and why.

This was going on before Trump was elected. He's been more vocal about how wrong it is though.

Like I've said before...a new league is firing up this next season waiting to exploit any failings the deaf and dumb NFL chooses to trip on. They're already in FAIL territory with not showing up as champions enmasse.

and so was sitting, stretching, checking equipment among athletes; and walking, sitting, standing in concession lines, urinating and crapping among fans while the anthem was playing...all common sights in the not too distant past... and still seen today...all these happened at a minor league baseball game during the playing of the National Anthem (ok, can't be sure about the pissing and crapping part - I wasn't in the restroom)
