She said I'm going to hire a wino to decorate our home
So you'll feel more at ease here and you won't need to roam.
We'll take out our dining room table and put a bar along that wall
And a neon sign to point the way to our bathroom down the hallWhistle

2017, Black Bird rose, Napa, California.

About $20. The best rose I have ever tasted.

Let me know how the 16 is. The 15 was pleasantly tart with a huge pear influence.

2016, Inama Soave Classico, Veneto, Italy.

Bright straw. Pear and apple on the fresh, deep nose. Then juicy with clean flavors of apple jelly, white stone fruit and minerals; has good weight and texture. Finishes clean, fresh and with a delightful crystalline quality. Very impressive. --Ian D'Agata, June 2017

popped the 2016 Sofia Monterrey County Rose.

purposely did not read anything about it...did catch a little pear, thought it had maybe more berry, then pear for sure in the longish finish.

The tart aspect did not bother me at all, may have aided the long pear finish.

paid 13 or 14, would certainly buy again, like all Summer.

We just tasted the 2017 today. Really interesting, a nose of fresh strawberrys and lavender. Flavors of strawberry, cherry, and a hint of pink grapefruit. I liked it a lot.

First bottle from Spey has been emptied...
Not gonna read any write ups, just want to see what I discern when drinking them.

2017 Chateau Haut Sarthes Bergerac-
pleasingly dry unsweet strawberry throughout, more of an essence.

Tonight with grilled swordfish and asparagus. last night with some spiced up rigatoni with fireroasted peppers and onions.

may have liked it best on it's own.

It made me think of the flavors of wild strawberries.

Ribs on the grill tonight with a nice dry rub.
Steamed green beans.
Spinach and Kale salad with tomatoes tossed with Italian vinaigrette.
Fresh blueberries.

2014, Domaine Lafarge Cuvee Nicholas, Languedoc Roussillon, France. Old vine Grenache.

second bottle from Spey's RAOK...

2017 Ercavio Rosado Spain

first few tastes were well chilled and just didn't show anything to me.
as it warmed I almost sensed more than tasted some generic fruit, nothing I could name, tart finish.

Liked it much better than when very cold, but it won't be my favorite of the batch.

Just read the back label blurb..."serve well chilled"!
Guess I'm not ready to be a onionfile yet.

noob.

Cricket Hill Vineyards 2012 mislabeled mistake.

Duane the owner mislabeled a few cases, rather than messing with them he put an X (in sharpie) on the labels and is selling the bottles for $12 out of their new tasting room in downtown Jacksonville.

He won't say what it is. I don't think it's cab franc. I know it's not his Grand Vin. And I don't think it's his Merlot. I think it's his Rondezvous blend. Best $12 wine I ever bought....

He specializes in right bank Bordeaux style wine. Really smart guy who's fun to talk to, and great sharing his knowledge. Least pretentious vitner in Southern Oregon.

Sunday late afternoon, small glass while reading...was what I had hoped, dry-ish, yet you know the fruit is there from the nose, maybe berries...not sure what fruit. But for me, no citrus, which was good.

Tonight, with turkey burgers and bicolored corn on da cob (neat!) and went OK but not a perfect marriage. Any theories why not Allen?

I still liked it, but better as a refreshing sipper before sunset...and I live on Sunset Drive, so you know that's a nice time of day in season.

Tsantali "Roditis" d'Estelle Rose...no year given. Greece.
From Spey.

Beautiful deep color, shades beyond pink. As a sipper, nice and dry, more fruit aroma than taste.

later with a chef salad, just fine. Seems like it would go with many foods.

The Lovely Caren was able to discern the aroma of banana as claimed on the back label (along with other fruits). I could only catch it in the finish.

Sneaky complex...to this noob.

Good one Allen, thanks.

To bad they have to call it Roditis. If they could call it rose it would sell better.

It would. Pine resin was historically used as a preservative in Greek wines. Retsina stays true to tradition. It tastes not so good. Sometime try an Assyrtiko from Santorini, or a Moschofilero from Peloponnese. Both are great summertime whites.
