I have been hard at starting a new service lol. Basically just trying to find something to occupy my time and give me something to do other than sit in the office all day. So for the past week or so I have been learning via hands on and researching. It is still a work in progress but getting better at it every time. I have been wanting to do this for years and thought now would be a good time since things are how they are.

I have been learning to make custom ink pens from exotic woods and such. I thought it would make good gifts to give to folks especially like with here on CBid since most of us do keep a cigar journal of some sorts or whats the "Uppity" Term a Dossier.... I had to throw out pinky finger to type Dossier... Oops there goes the Pinky finger again.

Any who, I been making, Ball Points, Roller Balls, Fountain pens, Click pens, Twist Pens all that chit. Made from Purple heart, Walnut, Sapele Wood, Tasmanian Black wood etc.

I figure if I get good enough at it for custom pens to non friends lol I can sell them and maybe be able to keep up my cigar habit. Besides, it keeps me from rotting away by having something to do. Once I get this down then next is learning to turn wooden bowls and such.

This is just a scrap piece I had of maple wood to learn on and using a wood dye I am experimenting with.
any who I hope all of you are well.

I thank you sir, Would you like to be the first to receive one? I have finished making all the family one so now I am ready to make em up and send out to friends. Pick out a wood and I will make it for you and ship it out. I have Maple, Ash, Red Oak, Purple Heart, walnut. I think I have a piece of sapele left. I have some spalted maple on the way. I will need to know if you like heavy pens or light slim pens. Me I prefer heavy but its just a personal thing.

Super-cool, Brother Chris! I’m a sucker for wood lathe YouTube videos. Set up a camera and you, too, could be a YouTube stah.

If’n you’re interested in setting up a pen for cigars trade, let me know. I’d most definitely be up for one.

I can see it now, I set up a camera and go to turning a pen then after its all done realize I had the camera facing the garage door lol. I would be the YouTube Retard Stah!

Sure thing, I will trade you, humm lets see...How about a custom made turned pen for you being a good BOTL that you are.

Your choices are a heavy pen or light slim pen. A Ball Point can get either heavy or light, Roller ball mostly heavy but some slim ones out or fountain pen which I have yet to make one of those lol, Type of wood which is listed above. If you want stained or natural on the wood. I have all primary colors so I can make any color under the sun. I am also messing with Shou Sugi Ban technique which is a Japanese technique of preserving the wood by charring it, staining it, then sanding. That is still a work in progress but first attempt turned out pretty sweet. You can see what it looks like on YouTube just search Shou Sugi Ban.

Shoot me a PM with your choices and I will get it done for you. ThumpUp

Shoot me an addy brother and I will hook you up lol.

To get the blue iridescent is a little tough. First I have to drink a lot and I mean a lot of the blue gatorade! Bwahahahaha.

Seriously, I use a powder wood dye that I mix with a chemical compound formula of C₃H₈O. This requires a butt load of work but makes it very special. How I get the compound is I have the wife drive me down to Wallgreens or CVS and buy isopropyl alcohol lol. Then just add the powder to get the desired color. Beer

Thank You sir, Ahh at the moment I am just learning and such so I am just giving em out to my brothers which gives me something to do. If I ever become a real famous pen maker then I would consider selling em lol. I don't think we have that to worry about though. My very first pen I made was for my mother. I sent her a photo of it and she said... "Awe cool I love it and you are studying and learning the works of Vincent Willem van Gogh" Brick wall

Just a heads up guys, I have not forgotten about you all that I have made pens for. The wife got put in the hospital with sweats and pains. They kept her for a few days to make sure it was not her heart. Which it wasn't thank God.I hope to get these in the mail over the next few days. I will post when I get them sent out.

Best Regards,
Chris Q.
