Within the next two weeks our daughter is due to giving birth to our second granddaughter. So, to help celebrate this wonderful event, I would like to put on a contest. The leading name in the clubhouse seems to be Ashley (...Grandma K and I like "Sydney" but have been overruled...) but the parents haven't yet fully decided. At any rate, the contest is open to all. I liked the way Delta formulated his recent contest so will borrow / steal his format and verbiage for mine.

The winning number will be the person who comes closest to baby Ashley's length in inches plus her weight in ounces. For example, a player makes a guess of 20 inches and a guess of 5lbs and 8 ounces. The total of the guess is: 20 + 80 + 8 = 108. (This is just an illustration and is not a tip off to the actual number).

The tie-breaker will be the person who guesses the date of arrival without going over.

Second tie-breaker will be the one who comes closest to the time of arrival without going past the time.

One guess per player.

And in case this seems too complicated, here's a sample guess:

Length - 20 inches
Weight - 6 lbs. (...or 96 ounces, however you want to list it...)
Date - June 11
Time - 12:01 a.m.

We now have four young grandchildren, two each from my son and daughter. They definitely bring joy to this house. Didn't realize that I was gonna become a volunteer babysitter, baby walker, diaper changer, nanny, infant/toddler playmate, supply acquisition specialist, driver, cook, pool maintenance man, and housemaid when I retired...

The contest is now closed.

Our daughter will be going into the hospital at 4:00 a.m. (...in about 4-1/2 hours from now...) to induce labor. Grandma and I will be at home anxiously awaiting Baby Ashley.

I have recorded everyone's guesses and interestingly enough, no one guessed 6/18 so the 2nd tiebreaker, the time of delivery could come into play.

Be back in a few hours.
