many people blamed Obama for a wave of police shootings of unarmed black people who were not docile enough during their interactions and for the BLM movement and for murders of on duty law enforcement officers because of a FEW words he uttered about law enforcement/black people relations...

so many of those same people who do not believe Trump has the same kind of effect on people and has no possible relationship to a mass shooting of 5 journalists... must think Obama had some greater super-natural persuasive communications skills than Trump, even though Trump has been beating that drum about the evil press since he became a candidate...or TDS...

still no.

My point is that the right consistently argues and "proves" about libs that if you say something long enough and hard enough, despite whether or not it's true, it can be perceived as true...Trump has said long and hard that the "press is the enemy of the people"...

Mueller has been on the case for a year less than Gowdy investigated Benghazi from 2014 to 2016.

Additionally no crime was either found or committed at Benghazi by Clinton . No charges. Cost a fistful.

The Russian investigation is less than a year old. Already guilty pleas and actual convictions.

And every time Trump hires fires or has a lawyer arrested the investigation stalls. Stategic.

Have a beer. Sit back and shut up.

....Gene... With all due respect, WTF are you talking about?

I don't even know what you're talking about with that nonsense.

You're now saying that someone advocating buying a shotgun for self defense is likely to trigger a person to shoot up a newspaper? By that logic the entirety of the NRA is culpable, as well as a large portion of the posters here.

And I'm pretty sure no one in Hollywood has advocated attacking journalists, if he got his message from Hollywood, then he didn't get it very clearly.

Your flailing about for someone to blame to try to take the spotlight off our current administration (which has clearly and unambiguously stated that the media is the enemy of the people, which has advocated violence against media on multiple occasions)... Just makes it look like you believe this administration has culpability.

The only thing I'm "flailing" is your weak, way around the mountain blaming of Trump.

victor809 wrote:
While his grudge may predate trump by years... That doesn't mean that the impetus to shoot the place up wasn't encouraged by the constant anti media rhetoric.

Applying your reading comprehension, when did the media start advocating the harming of reporters?

That line about Hollywood shows you either have a problem reading or you just refuse to acknowledge what I wrote. I said, "Now as to blatant threats and suggestions for violence look no further than hollyweird and the loony left talking about the President." That is, "...talking about the President.", not a reporter. d'oh!

The two are not necessarily incompatible. Dude was pissed at the paper for years and never felt the need to take violent actions. What caused him to suddenly decide shooting the place up is a good idea will likely never be clearly understood.

This post.

It uses real logic to form a partisan opinion.
Heck, not even an opinion, but rather just floating something out there to enrage one side and empower the other.
It's precisely how logic is NOT supposed to be used.

On one hand, I admire the cleverness.
On the other, I can't help but notice that it drips with contempt and reeks of TDS.

There's no way to know this idiot shooter's motives beyond that they were personal and just **** nuts..
He held a grudge against a specific business establishment, not the media at large, most likely.

Had Trump given borderliners license to crossover and express themselves violently?
We may never know, vic is right. And the chithead shooter is not talking.

Thing is, the likelihood that Trump influenced him to suppress his anger is not at all likely.
But who knows, maybe the babysitter dropped him on his head as a kid. Mine did.

What vic was saying wasn't politically partisan.
Not totally sure but I suspect vic simply hates Donald.
Which is strange, right?, cause they both hate kids?

Don't think vic'd need cleverness or anything else to cover his hate up.

In the end, this shooter was a shooting waiting to happen. He had a history of harassment.
BTW I wouldn't be surprised if he were a registered D or R.
We're all doing stupid these days.

Oh yeah TG, tell us (just kidding) how and when IS logic supposed to be used?
Seems pretty useless in today's America . Never saw you use it!
It's a dead method, like Latin, a dead language. Like the truth.

Final thoughts:
Logic alone was probably always just a semi-useful tool: inadequate in a vacuum.
Star Trek anyone?

Logic only takes you from point a to point b as Einstein once said, I think.
And point c is where the chicks are!
His words, not mine.

You both seem to think I said something definite.

All I said was that the people holding up his past history with the paper as evidence that it had nothing to do with trump are not using logic.

I said nothing more than that.

....and tails an idiot. I said that too...

OK, Victor and Delta I can concede your point has equal validity to arguments of alien visits, well, minus pictures and an actual statement from Giorgio Tsoukalos.

Man...that's no concession...you know Giorgio is busy getting Space Force up to speed and would not take time out...

...that's like Trump signing an EO to re-unite kids and families and then winking at DHHS, ICE and DHS...

Didn't even float something tail. Merely pointed out that one argument was incorrect.

I am very clear in my statement that we will likely never know why he did it.

Holy crap.

Many discussions on these boards are best held over a few drinks and cigars.

This isn't one of them.

Burner yes.... if it’s the immediate response. I don’t care what the setting is really.

Folks in some setting are shot, the bodies are still warm, and there is an immediate need to make it political. Regardless of which side you are on do you really think this is a good thing? I don’t.

Folks need to break out of their pattern before things can improve. They also need to quit justifying their actions with the actions of others.

To be clear, I was not referring to a Biden or Trump bias. Rather that there was a need to go political than to show concern for those affected by horrible acts.

Guess it is the times that we live in.
