(NBC News) A majority of Americans believe the Republican-led Senate should vote on President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee before the November midterm elections, undercutting the Democratic argument that it should be delayed until after the pivotal fall elections, according to a new NBC News|SurveyMonkey poll.

More than six in 10 Americans, or 62 percent, said Trump's nominee, who will be announced on Monday, should be confirmed or rejected before the elections in which control of the House and Senate are at stake. About three in 10, or 33 percent, said the Senate should wait until after the elections, the poll found.

Sixty-six percent of Democrats and 60 percent of Republicans said Trump's nominee would be an important factor in their vote in the midterms. However, less than half of independents, 46 percent, said it would be on their mind when casting their November ballot.

The vast majority of Republicans surveyed, 85 percent, said the Senate's vote on the nominee should take place before the election. Roughly six in 10 Independents, or 61 percent, agreed. However, more than half of Democrats, 55 percent, believe the voting on a new justice should wait.

I agree with the majority in this poll...

I also agreed with the majority in the polls that believed the Senate should have advised and consented/voted on Obama's nominee, Merrick Garland, when it was his turn to fill an empty seat on SCOTUS ...

but McConnell, and prolly a bunch of cons who are touting this poll, didn't give a fig about what the majority wanted then...why the flip flop?

To small of a sample size to have any predictable result Dave. 1/10,000 of 1% of our population.

I wouldn't worry too much about sample size... Stats show that you don't need a huge sample size to get reasonable accuracy (I think once you hit a couple hundred you're pretty safe if I remember off the top of my head)...

Although the biggest problem with polling is inadvertent bias of those willing to be sampled... Same problem social sciences experiments have... They may use a large sample size, but every person in the sample group is college students (generally white and between the ages of 18 to 21). Polling has a similar problem. The only people answering polling questions are people who answered their phone when an unknown number calls (so likely very old)... Or answers questions of people polling on the street... (Dunno what that means)...

Anyway. I don't actually think the polling in this article seems off at all, that seems reasonable... I just was posting to hear myself think....
