Had a great day on the fourth.
Thought I was going to have to endure an entire day at the beach. I love the sun and all, but sitting for 6+ hours is not my idea of making memories.
We arrived and a buddy of mine asked "Joe, you want to head out on so-and-so's boat for a quick engine check?"
My wife said "Yes he does".
So I did.

The marina is a bit inland, so you have to navigate slowly (no wake) until you get into the Sound (Nantucket).
At that point, we realize the few roadies we had were dead, so we need to make a packie run. (translation: we ran out of beer and needed to buy more).
But we're on a boat.
So the captain says "We'll pop over the Vineyard and pick up a six.".

Not the only time I've popped over to Martha's Vineyard for some beer, but certainly the quickest. Into Oak Bluffs, get close enough for one of us to jump to shore, buy a 12 of Bud Heavy, and jump back onto the boat to head back.
In hindsight, we shoulda got the whole case.
Hey. It was hot.
And when the wimmen swam out from their beach perch to the boat, they had a couple.
At least that's what I'll claim when asked.

After the fun in the sun, it was a late BBQ at a friends house, and then we were chauffeured by golf cart to a "secret spot" on the golf course to watch the fireworks.
We could see our show, as well as those in nearby Falmouth Heights and out in Vineyard Haven.
Kinda cool.

It's nice to forget about work for a while, and enjoy what we have at home.
I hope y'all had good times as well.

I was asleep by 7:45pm... I had to be up for work stupid early.

40 of us from work are doing a fishing charter to Catalina on Monday, though.

Bbq'd and swam at my folks on the 3rd, watched the local high school fireworks show from the front yard, then set off little ground fireworks for the kids until late...

Went to the in laws on the fourth and did pretty much the exact same thing... good memories for the kids...

Looks like you had a great day, tail.

We had my daughter's family over, along with SIL's mother and his brother's family and my sister, who brought a car load of Chinese food for lunch. Spent an hour or two eating and drinking and chatting, then went into the pool for a few hours of fun. Everybody left before dark to get home to protect their homes against rogue fireworks...

Spent the night in the man cave, watching the Dodgers, listening to the fireworks going off in the neighborhood (silly because fireworks are prohibited in our city) and enjoying a Camacho Liberty 2015...good times...

That was my foruth attempt at spelling it.

And the beer wasn't my first choice, but it was refreshing.
Not sure an imperial IPA would have quenched in that heat.

Hell, when we were docking a guy we ran into gave us Corona Lights.

Any port in a storm...

We had a fireworks show over at the beach.

I watched it from the Vets Hall deck.

Lasted a full 10 minutes.

Around 10pm I stepped out the office for a moment and saw fireworks blazing in every direction. I played the star spangled banner and then went back inside. It was amazing.

I worked.

Had the 5th off, took family to beach. Thunderstorms cut that short but we went to local brewery for dinner.

Came home, slept a bit, shoveled leaves and stuff from the drainage ditches that were flooded, and went back to bed.

Woke up, went back to work. Get off Monday.

That's what happens when you sit and swing on the porch maybe smoking a cigar and sipping Bailey's on the rocks without admitting it, but forgot you were playing paint ball.

Remember when your parents told you that you had to wait a half hour after eating before you could go back in the water?

Why did they say that, anyway?
How many times have you eaten a full meal and went swimming right away, no problem?
And how would only a half hour make any difference?
Your stomach takes longer than that to digest food.

Mystery solved:
They said that because THEY wanted to enjoy THEMSELVES for a half hour after eating INSTEAD of having to watch YOU.
Because if YOU went swimming right away, THEY would have to stop having THEIR fun to resume playing LIFEGUARD.

I think there's something to this guy... I think it's the lack of vowels. People without vowels in their name post some truly awesome insightful stuff.
