If someone robs a bank or committs some crime out of malice or greed, they should be severely punished.

If a crackhead neglects their child they should be separated.

If someone steals a loaf of bread to feed a hungry family, I'm giving them a pass.

Similarly if someone sneaks in to the states to escape serious persecution from gangs or governments and simply following a maternal/paternal instinct, I'm giving them a bit of a pass too.
They're not trying to exploit us, they're desperate parents usually trying to improve their family's lot.

OK. Ask yourself then, what would Jesus say.

I'm pretty sure he'd be disgusted with Trump's zero tolerance policy.

Then again, what was it Nietzsche said? Oh yeah, “The Last Christian died on the Cross"

I'm so happy you know the hearts and minds of illegal immigrants. The fact is, some of them ARE trying to exploit us. You want to decide who is and who isn't?

What's wrong with filling out an application and following the proper legal channels?

So if someone steals from you for food money he gets a pass? Good to know.

So, if I get busted driving drunk and causing a fatal accident, but I'm taking an injured family member to the hospital, I'm not really driving drunk....it's just my paternal instinct-the act of a desperate parent trying to improve my injured family member's lot?? Think

1. Glad you're happy

2. Processing these hardened criminals is what our taxes are for.
Reject the con artists, show some compassion to those that are verifiable in danger.

3. Why not fill out paperwork? Get in line? Because no “line” is available for the vast majority of unauthorized immigrants.
Immigration to the United States on a temporary or permanent basis is generally limited to three different routes: employment, family reunification, or humanitarian protection. While the U.S. immigration system is generous, each of these possibilities is highly regulated and subject to numerical limitations and eligibility requirements. Most unauthorized immigrants do not have the necessary family or employment relationships and often cannot access humanitarian protection, such as refugee or asylum status. But they're hungry. And willing to work hard.

Really? No one should drive drunk. Period. Cept me of course. I'm practiced.

The mitigating circumstances in your hypothetical, parental instinct, is insufficient.

But is sneaking in to the US comparable to killing someone even accidentally?

No.

In case you don't see how one isn't equivalent to the other...I guess that's gonna have to stay your problem

My dad owned a grocery store in a poor neighborhood. I watched him hand tv guides to people who were secretly copying out of it. I watched him allow some to steal food.

I was proud of him.

EXACTLY! These are our laws. We put them in place for a reason. Respect it, or get what you get.

I feel for them, but their plight is not our problem. The left doesn't want us to play "world police" but they want to take in every frickin' stray.

At whose expense? The taxpayer.

Let's get back on the topic: Russian meddling and its consequences...

12 high-ranking Russian intel agents have been indicted by the Special Prosecutor, Mueller, for criminal activities during the 2016 elections. Any possibility Trump demands that Putin/Russia hands them over for extradition/prosecution when they meet in a few days? Maybe he can bring them back on Air Force One...

Worse news about those indictments: among the facts and evidence that supports the criminal charges is an assertion that these Russian suspects received help from at least one unnamed American. Several legal experts who have been following the Mueller probe and reviewed the indictment believe this unnamed American is Trump friend/advisor/confidant Roger Stone...

Worst of all for Trump: the timeline in the charging docs show the criminal activities by these Russian agents intensified on the night after Trump's famous campaign rally, where he said, "Russia, if you're listening, release the Hillary emails"...Within hours after Trump uttered those words, the Russians got busy...

So since Hillary had an unauthorized server, and received sensitive material on an unauthorized account... and subsequently got hacked by russian spies... who got those e-mails...

It's TRUMP's fault for telling them to release them and expose her?

Deflection and excuses is all I hear from trump supporters.

Obama and Hillary....names from the past..

In the meantime? To hell with being violated by Russia.

Defend Trump. Not America. So what, we were attacked. Deny foreign election interference...

Weird. The very definition of psychosis: impaired relationship with reality.

Obama did this and Hillary that...

Cuz I do not, whether the words are annoying or not.

If he said that we should "move away", I did not hear it.
If you feel that was his intent, I'd like to know why.

I can't say this enough: I cringe when the Donald speaks.
But his tough boardroom bulldog approach has been successful despite what the media portrays.

I hate when Americans dwell on how we're perceived.
We worry too much when the truth is we are the tail that wags the dog.
We gladly give the MOST time and time again. Yet we get ridiculed because people don't like our demeanor.
Too bad.

Nobody is saying that Germany should give MORE to NATO than the USA.
But as the strongest economy in Europe, they should at least give the bare minimum.

And before Trumps bluster filled diatribe, they did NOT.

I mean, it's OK. Cons have many favorite simple 'stupid' words that they constantly regurgitate.
But they can, as you usually do, spell them correctly. There is that.

All acts that break the law..appalling I agree..
