Lazy day today. After I got everything prepped for fishing, I been sitting in the recliner all day.

Sometimes awake...

Trying to lose some pounds. Salads with chicken, salads with fish, salads with cheese. Kind of boring, but I have lost 3 pounds in 3 weeks. At this rate I'll be good in about a year. But I don't want to lose weight at a faster pace. I don't want the eventual boomerang effect.

Went to Brookfield zoo with the family today. Haven't been there since I was a child myself and wife's never been. Good times.

Tomorrow wrapping up paperwork on home equity loan so we can pull the trigger on new septic system. Can't get a hard quote from anybody, and it was pulling frog's teeth to get anybody to even offer up a ballpark/willingness to do the job. Got two places that said similar prices, 20-30k depending on what they find/permitting issues and add 10k if the well needs relocated or county requires locating where I'll need to pump uphill. So, looks like I'm blowing all my equity on literal chit. Can't sell the house without, and we'd like to move so it's gotta be done.

Got my tax bill for the year too. Apparently my home appreciates in value 10-12k/year, and has for the last 8 years I've been here. Started at 1200/yr taxes, now up to 2800/yr. Still not bad, but considering nothing's changed it's pretty ridiculous. Pretty sure nobody's going to pay anything near what the tax man says my house is worth. Last appraisal in 2012 for refinance valued it at 105k, while the taxman is saying nearly double that.

Don't need to rent backhoe, I know a guy. Might happen that way.

Issue is the abundance of protected wetlands surrounding/on my property. Right now I'm pretty much draining sewage directly into one of them. Septic has breeched the surface of the lawn on the low end and drains over the surface. Anything I do will be an improvement over that but the big issue is getting caught...

The fishing today was good. I got delta1 on another yellowtail, and this time it was bigger. I thought Al was gonna run out of energy before the fish did. That fish just kept pulling... but he landed it.

Looking up flights to book for next winter's travels and they're all insanely expensive, like same day flight ticket expensive. 2k to orlando on a Monday for 3 seats.

Gotta find the sweet spot in timing I guess. If not, road trip it is.

Read somewhere that around 40 days out is the sweet-spot. But, for winter travel I would book further out to secure seats. I recently bought a ticket to Tahoe six weeks out and was LUCKY to get a good flight for $615. That, in my opinion, is outrageous. Now, I'd be lucky to get a good flight for $800. I feel your pain...

When Shawn retires, his calling will be as a charter fishing guide. He was determined to find some decent fish for Art and me to catch...and we did...

That fish felt like 140 lbs the closer it came to the boat. It kept pulling line off just as fast as I reeled some in. After Shaun told me to give him my cigar, pull the fish away from the back and towards the side, get in the seat and put my feet on the rail, it got a lot easier. It was a lot a fun landing that fish, and when Art gaffed him....I was relieved and ecstatic...

Excellent and memorable day fishing with MACS and his buddy Art...

I'm still beat, but I have to work up some energy to clean and filet some fish today...

in the kitchen, attempting to turn the dozens of extra tomatoes from the garden into fresh marinara... listen to some james taylor... life is good...

Al, fantastic job with that fish! I could definitely see Macs getting his 6-pack license and taking guys out on a regular basis... think we'll get a discount?

Great video, Shawn and Al. Maybe the most enjoyable 5+ minutes I’ve spent today.

Back from a few days in Macon, GA working on the acquisition. It only reinforced the fact that I’ll be working my a$$ off for the next 8 months.
