Planning a trip in August. Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, Sand Point and Missoula for about a week.

Any insights from those who have been or are in the vicinity are appreciated.

we passed by/drove through Glacier on the way from Seattle to Yellowstone...

and on another trip went north of it to Banff and Jasper in Canada...both were well worth the time...but can't tell you much about Glacier other than it's beautiful with a lot of trees...

We travlhed North through that country to Banff in Canada. The Park is gorgeous and I recommend staying at the Ceder Creek Lodge and or the Many Glacier Hote.

On the way back we stopped and enjoyed a cruise on lake Coeur D'alene.

Been a long time. Waterton park in Canada just north of Glacier is cool too.

DED, check out the town of Whitefish, not far from Glasier. If you go through Anaconda play Jack Nicklaus golf course, Old Works. Let me know when you come through Missoula so we can get together for golf, fish or just a beer😜 Baynard brewery or Imagine nation brewery in Missoula.

Won't be bringing the sticks on this trip but I will let you know when we firm up dates and would love to meet for a beer and maybe a cigar also. I'll look at Whitefish.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll check them out. Been to Banff from Calgary years ago. There is a breakfast place there that serves an upside down apple pancake that I would drive an hour to have again.Drool

Wife and I took an RV trip last summer....late May to just before the 4th of July.
Oregon to Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Washington and back to Oregon.
Stayed in Whitefish for several days (family wedding) and did the Glacier day trip thing...........crowded......very crowded.
Yellowstone = crowded..........worse than Glacier.
My problem was that the last time I was in any of those places was the early to mid 70s, and it was amazing back then.
So, needless to say, I had a tough time adjusting to the new reality.

Whitefish is a very cool town but has become trendy and spendy (according to some of da local folk). Nice lake.

Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint are quite a ways north of me. If your trip takes you anywhere near Boise, let me know. We can meet for golf, lunch, a beer or something.

MacDonald Lake and its lodge are worth a stop. Take the jammer bus from there up the Going-to-the-Sun road. A world class road. Just spectacular. No need to drive it yourself, you see more on the bus. Logan Pass is your destination. The east side is less crowded, but better saved for when you have a week or so in the area.

At least three new wildfires burning in glacier national Park. The drive to the sun Road is closed and our reservations for jammer shuttle are canceled.

Came a long way to get burning eyes as there is smoke everywhere we have gone.

Not for me to decide. Beautiful country everywhere but the smoke sure makes it less enjoyable

Sorry to hear, Unfortunately you may experience much of the same smoke from wildfires at the RMCF.

that was exactly my experience last week when we went up to Mammoth and then to Lassen Volcanic National Park. At times, I felt like I was in a whitish gray dome when visibility was less than two miles all around due to the thick smoke.
