Some food for thought...

About 2000 kids are abducted every day in the U.S.

I'm thinking if the media raised half as much hell over that as they do about the 400 something kids detained at the border, maybe more children that are citizens would be reunited with their parents.

Further, many of the children who the media are claiming are separated from their families are actually victims of failed human trafficking attempts.

It's also known that under Obama's policies many of the children were simply handed off to human traffickers, which could have been avoided with a zero tolerance policy.

So which is worse? Detaining the children because their "parents" can't be found, or pushing them off to sweat shops and/or forced prostitution?

Bgz.... That number didn't quite smell right so I had to check it.
That's 2000 reported missing each day. That's including every reason a kid might be reported missing.
The number of "stranger abductions" (their word) is significantly different... 115 per year.

My source was the next link down (parents.com), but your will suffice.

2000 reported missing each day where of the 2000, 24% are by strangers...

Last I checked, 24% of 2000 is 480... per day.

I read your link, that 115 per year had very specific stigma attached to it...

Anyway, further down in your link, it says 20 us kids per day are abducted for prolonged periods of time... which would imply 7300 kids per year for prolonged periods of time.

With that, I don't know why the stranger thing matters, an abducted kid is an abducted kid, but in any case, 7300 *.24 = 1752.

Obama human trafficking aside, I do see a difference between abductions and something the government is doing.

If obama was giving kids to human traffickers I think that’s sort of bad. I’m not sure how it justifies this issue though.

Bgz... Because a parent taking a kid they don't have custody of would count in that number as a non stranger abduction... And a parent kidnapping their own kid doesn't really fit well as a comparative statistic in this discussion.

(And FYI... The entire comparison is sort of irrelevant.... It's a "hey look over here not over there!" Tactic...)

Ya, so quit f*cking up my strategies would you?

Anyway, that 1752 number represents stranger abducted kids per year for prolonged periods of time... I concede that the 2000 number was a bit deceptive on my part... again, quit f*cking up my strats.

Obama gave kids to human traffickers? I didn't know that... I only quoted the border policies under Obama, I didn't imply that Obama did it:P

one other factor to consider when comparing outrage levels to seemingly related issues...local vs national impact.

missing/abducted/runaway kids tend to be local issues and generate plenty of local news, Amber Alerts etc.

unlikely I would hear about a kid taken by his parent without custody in Tucson, but it is a National issue when the Fed Gov has 2,000 kids and bungles it.

Ya, but what percentage of those kids were detained where the parents couldn't be verified or scampered out of there to save their own ass because they were traffickers?

It might actually only be a couple dozen kids who were actually separated from their true parents.

400 something is a relatively small number anyway, but I have my doubts that a sizable percentage of those kids were actually with their true parents.

Exactly! And what percentage of those 400 children are actually just dwarfs, midgets, and assorted little people, sneaking into this country to steal work away from American circus and freak show performers?

Can we just simplify things and imprison anyone in America under 5'10?.... We really need to protect ourselves from the risk of midgets.

well, since so many have finally been reunited, the percentage of which you wonder seems likely to be negligible...

There is 9US consulates and 1US embassy. So why dont the parents take these steps because it is easier to blame someone else for their problems.

Well, that and his penchant for surprise camping trips.

It's funny.
Early in this thread you declare this is an emotional topic.

Now you dismiss the notion with sarcasm.

Memory lapse, or a liar, or trying too hard to be a contrarian.

I'm giving you an out, though you don't deserve it.

It was never an argument.
For me at least.

It was an observation based on the news reports.

I didn't investigate this myself.

You somehow you took offense.

And then blamed me.

That is what I mean by being a contrarian.
We all know you do it.
Constantly.

It can be fun.
Or it can be boorish.

It's become un-fun at the moment.

But beer will fix that.

I can honestly say I never took offense to anything but some folks think they know what other folks think better than they do.

I’m cool with that. Whatever floats your boat.

I never implied I knew what you think.

Of course, that won't stop you from making the claim.
You're wrong, so you deflect.
Predictable.
And boorish.
Again.
