BOTL/SOTL in Hawaii,

I will be there from 8 - 25 August and would love to meet up for a smoke. What chance is there for a herf somewhere on the 18th? I am pretty sure that will be a down day for me (this is a work trip). It is also my birthday....you can't beat that.

I was stationed in Hawaii from 1991-1994 and know it fairly well, so any place is fair game.

I usually fly through there in October. But I may not go this year.

Our contract has been extended to Dec. 31. And if I'm off the island in January... I'm not spending all that money to go on vacation in October.

Just a little over a month....not that I am counting the days or anything😜. I have been researching renting a motorcycle for a day.

Conan,

Are there any places to go and have a drink and smoke a cigar in Waikiki?

I searched and founded a few but would like a local opinion.

Thanks,
David

Irish Rose Saloon on Ena Road is the only place in Waikiki that I know of. Bur and I met up there for drinks and a smoke a few years ago. O’Toole’s in downtown also allows smoking too.

There are a couple of cigar shpos that have smoking “lounges”:

Cigar Cigar on King Street - Joe Hilton is the owner and has 3-ish chairs to smoke, talk story and watch TV. Pretty sure he doesn’t charge...as long as you buy one of his well-rested (...but expen$ive...) cigars.

Tobaccos of Hawaii on Beretania - they have a separate area for smoking but dunno what they charge. You may be able to BYOB.

Man.. I was just there. Flew in for a dental appointment. Arrived Monday. Procedure Tuesday. Flew out on Wednesday.

Well, I wasn't in Waikiki... I was just across the canal in Honolulu just behind the Ala Moana Mall.

Update: neither Irish Rose or Kelly’s in Waikiki allow smoking. O’Toole’s still seems to be okay.

Last time I was at Kelley O'Neils... they allowed smoking... sort of at your own risk, I guess. I smoked sitting at the bar.

But, let's see... that was probably back in 2007, or so.

Enjoy. It was very nice weather last week. Hector zoomed by to the south, but didn't affect anything while I was there.

Also, didn't get a chance to smoke any cigars. I was just in and out.. tooth extraction!

Conan and I met up at the Row Bar, had some smokes and a few drinks. It was a great time. We exchanged some cigars and made plans to meet up on Saturday for a Sound and Cigars event.

Saturday we had free drinks and a smoke at the Bang & Olufsen Showroom. If only I had a spare $20,000 or so to buy some speakers.

I am hoping that the Thursday Herf at the Row Bar isn’t Hurricaned out.

Not yet out of the woods. Storm is slowing down but traveling at only 5 mph so we’ll still be hit at some point today. While not close to Iwa or Iniki strength, still gotta keep our guard up.

On the upside, our shop is closed so cruising at home with some free time to search for a htf cigar.... d'oh!

I made it out safely. Someone at the hotel should be happy. I had just stocked up on supplies and then I was able to get on an earlier flight.

Beer, food, and Dt Dr Pepper for housekeeping.

Great to hear David! Hope you have a safe and uneventful flight(s) back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our two get togethers. Thanks again for the smokes too!
