Hello friend! When i was a lad i had an ant farm... seems similar to your little humidor insect project so I'll offer the best advice i can based on my experiences...

as cigars are an important part of a cigar beetles natural habitat, it's vital you not remove any from the insect humidor... also, don't mix the red ones with the black ones or you'll start a war... and reward good behavior with an eye dropper of kool-aid...

Lastly, letters and numbers are a terrible combination for a forum handle and the guys around here are gonna hate it... take my advice, introduce yourself as insect boy...

I've dealt with this a few times.....

Shave the effected area, and wash with tea tree oil shampoo, or add a few drop of tea tree oil to some shampoo.

Should clear up in a few days.

So that in 3000 years, when technology has caught up to the dreams of the present, they can unthaw it and rebuild him - d*ck first...

In a world of snowflakes, progressives, and hipsters, humanity has become a cesspool of pussification... mankind has only one hope... he is:

Yes, definitely freeze the humidor for at least 3 days and then it goes in the fridge for a couple of days to start the thawing process. Send the bugs to Drafter- he eats anything.

That's counter intuitive. Most peoples shrivel up when you freeze them and get harder the more you warm them up...

Weird world we live in.

And just to be perfectly clear, leave the cigars in the humidor. You might wanna leave it in the freezer for 4 days to account for the thickness of the box. Additionally, if your humidor is small enough, put it in a plastic bag.

Good luck!

bonus points if you put the bugs on tiny skewers before sending them to Drafter.

Alright, real response... -17 degrees celsius is fine... I would go 4 to 5 days with it.

For the smokes though, put them in freezer bags, air tight (you can suck the air out with a straw).

Tony is right though, I would freeze the humidor too (or just throw it away and get some tupperware with an air tight seal).

At -17c, 3 days would probably do it, 5 days, they will all be dead for sure.

Fire up the cigars. The bugs will sound like popcorn when the fire hits 'em. The acrid flavor they impart just adds to the smoking experience.

BTW, the freezing info 👍

You fellas should feel ashamed! He started this thread with "Dear Friends" .....

And y'all shot down the only chance you'll prolly ever have of befriending .... uh .... uh .... I'll never forget ol whazz-hiz-name

But the advice was good and sound, I was gonna suggest a can of raid and a torch lighter. I hope he chooses the freezer method

Ya, there's definitely something wrong with someone who starts out a forum post with "Dear Friends".

Clearly a telemarketer, link spammer, scammer or a complete and total internet noob.

Not sure which one he is yet...

If you opt to freeze them, just know that cigars do not respond well to sudden changes in temperature and humidity. In other words, slower is better, but not too slow, because residential refrigerators and freezers are typically very dry, and can easily dry out your cigars if left in for too long. For this reason, it is never recommended to use the freezer or refrigerator for long term cigar storage.

Pack them loosely in zippered plastic bags, ensuring a very tight seal, and place them in the refrigerator for a few hours. Once they're cool all the way through, put them into the freezer for 24 to 48 hours. After that, place them back into the refrigerator for a day or so to gradually "thaw." By then, they'll be perfectly ready to go back into your humidor, but bonus points if you put them in a cooler before returning them to general population.

Even after they're back in your humidor, it's advisable to give them another few weeks to recover their humidity before smoking them.

I don't do the fridge... freezer, plop in the humidor. I've never had a problem skipping the fridge step personally.

I've even smoked them before pretty much straight out of the freezer... though YMMV on this one (wouldn't do it with anything good).
