Every adaptation has secondary impact.

....and bgz's mom told him they only give the last 2 digits in the report, and that everyone is supposed to 100 to their IQ score.

We're learning a lot today.

True... Like humans get to live and the dinosaur doesn't... Or humans get to live but the American bison doesn't... Or humans get to live and the rainforests get decimated... Its like a beautiful yin and yang thing where humans are always yin and yang is anything we need to kill off in order to survive...

There is a certain irony in having a mistyping in an IQ insult. Ah well, such is life.

But anyone who manages to entertain themselves by trolling nextdoor isn't gonna impress anyone with their IQ.

According to Stephen Hawking we'd better hurry up and colonize another planet (within 100 years) or face extinction.

"With climate change, overdue asteroid strikes, epidemics and population growth, our own planet is increasingly precarious."

In 2016 Hawking warned about the dangers from nuclear war, global warming, genetically-engineered viruses and artificial intelligence.

I never really thought about the effects of population growth or controlling it. I did have a zero population growth button back in the day. Gave it to my 8th child. That's a joke...

I say err on the side of caution. Gov agencies should be in the business of educating us regarding ZPG & climate change.
The debate should be loud and clear. Just hard/impossible to keep anything bi-partisan/apolitical nowadays.

Would be pretty selfish to leave future generations with an untenable mess.

According to Stephen hawking, we were likely seeded here by alien life... and also if aliens come a calling, we shouldn't Answer the phone...

It actually takes skill to not get banned. I've only got banned from places I had no intentions of sticking around.

Tail, what I am trying to ask is what it is you would like to see further discussed. I think we can all agree that pollution is bad. I also think we can all agree that pollution has an effect on our earth. I think most of us can agree that we do not know exactly what the effects of that pollution are. Finally I think most of us can agree that our government is doing something positive by reducing pollution.

I think you are saying 2 things. We should not have a knee jerk reaction to reducing pollution due to political pressures. Also you don't like our government making seemingly totalitarian decisions. But I don't want to speak for you. Though I am trying to better understand your concern.

In simple terms:

America is overweight.
So some local governments are making extra large soda's illegal.

A. this does not address the issue.
B. it's a money grab when the governments can put a tax on it.
C. The government doesn't care about A, but they'll exploit anything to achieve B.

I got an automated phone survey.
Press 1 if you strongly agree, 5 if you strongly disagree. That sorta thing.

Questions went from how is trump doing, to "Is our government doing enough to stop global climate change?"

the question makes the assumption that we could stop it if we really tried.

But we can't.

If the pie chart shows SUV pollution to be a tiny fraction of the cause, then why bother with taxes and penalties and governmental protocols?

Address the problem, but be honest.
Show the exponential population on Algores hockey stick chart.
Show the third world countries using rivers as flush tanks for their trash.
Don't tax me because I used an additional carbon credit or some other asinine concept.

And don't, don't EVER, tell me it's "settled" when they don't even grasp the scope.

what does this have to do with Trump trying to eliminate The Press?

But seriously, wouldn't the local government make more on the taxes from large sodas purchased if they kept them legal?

Am I even still on the right three topic thread?

.... Currently the press (in general) spends more time verifying items they state as news than he does when he tweets or says something as if it were "fact".

Sorry if my metaphor confused some while insulting others.

Money is being spent by our government on programs that are likely to have only a negligible (or zero) affect.

I admit that weather people know more than I do about climate change, but they're not being as honest as I am and when I hear it's "settled" before valid concerns are address then it's very obvious that their agenda has formed their conclusions.
I find it despicable and those that believe there is nothing left to discuss because they read it in Time Magazine or the TV equivalent (take your pick) are ignorant enablers.
