Hahaha! Ok, ok, it was 81 last night but around 86-87 in the day. The high humidity makes one feel miserable. Tried to minimize my sales calls yesterday.

Farner and Brewer - Monumental Funk

I had this on vinyl at one time...don't remember exactly why it didn't have Grand Funk on the cover, but it is very much Grand Funk

Never heard of these guys for no good reason at all....I was just getting into rock in 70, but no clue how this has escaped me for almost 50 years....bluesy, swampy, pretty hard at times....sorta like Frank Marino meets John Kay and the Van Zandts...and crashed by Levon Helm on a couple songs..

Never heard of them (stumping me with a goose egg is rare! Usually I "know" a song), but they kick ass!

Their version of "Jumping Jack Flash" is awesome...slowed down and bluesed out.

Thanks!

Just a gaddam glorious train wreck of an album.

Here's a song about him creeping on a young girl in a school uniform.

How was the show?...I saw them back in the 1977 or 78, and loved the show...Hesitation Blues is a great tune

Kiln House is very good. I'm partial to Bare Trees, but my commitment is shaky. Bare Trees was my intro to them, so I guess its a sort of irrational sentimentality, because some of the Welch stuff sort of makes me cringe at the same time it takes me back.

I'm jumping around mid-70's today....playing now:

Ooh, Jackie Blue
Lives her life from inside of her room
Hides a smile when she's wearin' a frown
Ooh, Jackie you're not so down

time has been good to Jackie.....still a great song

Prince - 1999

The last Prince album I liked. We used to play “Dirty Mind” and “Controversy” in the record store where I worked well before Prince was “discovered.” Once people caught on to this “new” artist, we couldn’t keep enough of his albums and tapes in stock.

81F / 87% RH / 18 mph - Tropical Storm Olivia is about to hit us so it’s been really humid today

Neil Diamond - 12 Songs.

Say what you will about Neil Diamond but he's an American Icon. This album was made with Rick Rubin in the early 2000's and is, in my opinion, terrific.

So much good stuff up there recently....Metheny comforted when I bailed on 80's music for fusion, Avenged-my kids turned me on to them...actually playing guitar hero with them did, early Rush - nothing better, London Calling - not as edgy as it once was, but absolute classic

Currently listening to Fixx - Reach the Beach...right about the time I mention above when I pretty much quit mainstream pop/rock for most of a decade -- heard them in a commercial recently and decided to revisit....aged well, but not quite as intense as I remember it....pretty decent, though
