How can you edit these without having to pay for an adobe account? I had a file sent to me via PDF that I want to edit... but I can't seem to do it without being asked to subscribe to some bs paid account. F that.

I mean.... The point of a PDF is to make it uneditable.

You can... But if someone sent you something in PDF maybe you aren't supposed to change it?

Its ok as long as its in the interest of self preservation you can do whatever you want.

Don't need to edit a PDF to do that. Just need to add an opaque square in the PDF

Add a comment... Make it a rectangle. Make the rectangle cover the text... Edit the properties to make the fill for the rectangle black... (Or white if you don't want it to look like Jones's redacted service history)

If you can't find a shape in comments... Go to tools... In the search box for tools type shape. Select rectangle

The oil sample may have proved he was there. Changing it for self preservation is understandable and encouraged.

Hmmm... where have I seen this tactic before? Take what someone says, twist it to fit your agenda, and then post it everywhere... oh yeah! The libs do that! Good job, tee.

Poor MACS...
That formerly living hooker really had the potential to ruin his promising career. Shame on her.

Put an opaque, (solid background) comment over the part you don't want share then print it to another PDF file with comments. Most reader apps can do this.

Quick google search, found this one:

https://www.pdfescape.com/windows/

Can't give you any review because I never tried it (we use Acrobat).

Gene is right,if you're giving someone the PDF, make sure to print to a new PDF first... Or they'll just move it. Like they did with the comment covering your shart stain.

If you have a newer version of MS Word, just open it with that, you can open and edit PDFs since 2013. It'll convert it on opening, make your edits then save as PDF.

Only problem is it could still print the original PDF without the opaque comments. Printing to a new PDF won't flatten the opaque comment either. It can still be deleted.

One option would be to place it in a Word doc, type over the text you want to change, and export or save as a new flattened PDF.

The only true way to edit the PDF is with Adobe's Creative Suite. Acrobat Pro (not Reader), Illustrator, or Photoshop. Unless of course the PDF is encrypted and does not allow it to be edited. It can also be placed in InDesign and typed over like the Word solution above.

Adobe used to offer free trials of their software.

Or you could send it this way and I could make the edits for you. I work with the Creative Suite and Acrobat all day long.
Good luck.

I think you are mixing printing with comments vs saving with comments. If you print with the comments it will not retain the original content, it is "printing" the commented document as you see it. PDF files do not have a modification history built in like Word and some other files. We made extensive use of PDF files in our engineering technical baseline computer system. So much so I am getting nauseated writing this. Sickamp; I spent many hours un-f**king files and retrieving technical information created by clever* engineers.

* Always finding new and creative ways to create incompatible documents.

If the original PDF was created from a scan or raster image, printing to a new PDF with comments over top may work visually. But when editing with Acrobat's tools, the original unretouched image will still be there. If the original PDF has the fonts and ascii text embedded within the document, printing to a new PDF again may work visually, be the text will still be embedded, and most likely be searchable. Simply Saving with comments over top an image or text will not "remove" the original content of he PDF. It's a "Comments" feature, not an eraser or paint bucket.

Noobs

1) print pdf

2) using a pair of scissors, remove the portion you want to keep private

3) place on printer and scan to a flash drive (a pdf)

4) post new pdf

Adobe's programs were revolutionary.... 20 years ago....until photoshop became bloated and unstable, and Acrobat didn't evolve much at all. Photoshop has gotten better, but certainly not any cheaper.....my biggest complaint, however, is that my android phone was plagued by full screen popup ads...until I deleted Acrobat; might have been a pdf or some other download that tied to Acrobat and not the actual Adobe app, but no matter...the problem was solved by deleting Adobe, so I blame them

Adobe served its purpose but modern building materials make it easy to build a stronger and better insulated structure much more economically.
