Now that it's getting chilly here in the northeast, I'm trying to figure out a strategy for smoking in the house w/o my wife killing me. She once told me that she liked the smell of cigars and I tried convincing her that she would enjoy me smoking in the house, but that didn't work. Any thoughts from the the cigar smoking experts? Trying not to have to buy a space heater for the garage! Thanks.

Grow some balls maybe? If you need some balls I will ask my wife if I can borrow mine to mail to you. She will have to dig em out of her purse so it might take a day or two to get em there.

Seriously though, buy the damn space heater. If you like your wife's cooking, like having clean draws (assuming she does the laundry), and most importantly if you like getting that puss from time to time.

Second, if your wife is like mine she does not go into the garage often so, it makes for a peaceful place for me to get away, be comfortable and focus on my cigar and drink of choice. In the long run the space heater is well worth the cost to keep the wife happy and to give you a place to sit, smoke, drink at your leisure. So quit being a tight ass and get the damn thing already.

Since you’re in the northeast, come on down to my place. My wife has no problem with cigars in the house.

I'm in the minority likely, but I don't like smoking indoors.
In winter, which isn't much on the southern Oregon coast, I smoke smaller cigars, and don't smoke much at night

Warm jacket, propane heater on da porch does the trick for me.
But if it gets in the 30s..........eh......too cold and a cigar doesn't taste right to me.

Not too far from me, tho. Don't smoke in the house- you will stink the place up and dirty up everything including you lungs from second hand smoke. If you are that hooked, go the garage route or smoke coronas or cigarillos. Or you could smoke a small bowl pipe. It's a bit colder in winter where I live.

Bullschit........if you keep your smoking room clean this isn't a problem at all.I smoke in our den all the time, leather furniture of course. No one would ever know i smoked in there unless I told them.Second hand smoke is a scare tactic, but if real at all pertains to cigarette smoking only with all the chemicals involved. But if you want to believe that natural tobacco has a second hand effect that is your prerogative.

I'm right there with you... Got my rocking chair in the garage with a heating pad and a space heater... If it's under 30, I use a blanket... I think the suggestions to man up are cute... If you can't handle cold weather, no amount of being a d*ck to your wife is getting you your card back....

Now you're talking! And you can smoke that indoors all day long... Smell dissipates quick...

I smoke wherever I want. I don't have to fear divorce or getting yelled at by my wife because she's never existed, nor has any marriage. Simple!

Remember kids, the BEST way to deal with a problem is to pre-emptively make it impossible by not engaging in its required precursor actions!

I built a smoking room in our house- I put up heavy duty visqueen, taped the seams shut, put up the drywall and added an inline exhaust fan ducted to outside. I can smoke year round indoors even when the weather is inclement.

When the weather is nice though, I sit on my deck and smoke because I like being outdoors.

Ah, the old "you'll die alone" trope, using fear-of-death to pressure guys into marriage. It's so overused it's beyond cliche by now. News flash: everyone dies alone, unless you do the "Thelma and Louise" car-over-a-cliff-together thing. Even then you're dying alone, just while sitting next to somebody.

A wild stallion is running free, and somebody says to him, "Dude, you REALLY ought to run over to that rancher's place and have him lock you up inside his fencing, chop your jimmies off, put the yoke on you and make you pull the plow for him, for the rest of your life! After all, you don't want to DIE ALONE, do you?"

I'm enjoying this immensely. We're looking to move in the next year and I was thinking of setting up a smoking room with special ventilation -- in the meantime it sounds like the space heater, an old lounge chair and a couple of carefully stashed of single malt in the garage or the winter!

Back in the day when we’d get together to play cards, a couple of my friends would smoke cigars and the smell would be in every room for a few days. ‘Course that was before the days of Man Caves and good ventilation systems but I decided not to smoke inside the house because of that. I enjoy smoking out in the garage unless the temperature drops below 68, then I have to bundle up with sweats and socks. Laugh

Yah, it sucks living in Hawaii. Herfing

I'm a lucky guy. My wife will enjoy a cigar with me. During the winter, I light a fire in the in the fireplace in my man cave (basement) direct a fan to ensure airflow moving toward the chimney and enjoy cigars all winter. No issue with residual odor. Enjoy a fire, whiskey and cigars while watching TV with my very cool wife. Life is good.

Hmm, looking like someone else has resurrected my post from January and given it a new title. Here in the Pacific Northwest, I have a smoking ensemble. If we dip down below 20 degrees, I probably will have to fire up my outdoor fire pit, but other than that I smoke on my front porch, in a nice rocker. Lol

I used to have a heated/AC smoke room w/TV, but had to tear it down when renovating the house to sell. Now I sit outside on the covered rear porch with a tank top propane heater. When really cold, I'll wear a down jacket under thermal coveralls, a knit hat and Jersey knit gloves (with the fingers cut out on my cigar holding hand).

Once the Jersey house sells, and I'm a full time Southerner, I'm putting up a couple out buildings, and you can bet that one of them will have a ventilated smoke room, with power, heat, A/C and flat screen.

I converted a small one car garage into a man-cave, so I can watch sports and smoke a cigar...it has AC and I'm gonna install an in-line ceiling fan to pull the smoke out when I close the doors because it's too hot or cold outside.

If I'm not watching TV and want a cigar, I'll smoke outside in the back patio...unless it's too windy...then I'll sit in the front patio that has a small sitting area surrounded by three walls...

don't like to smoke inside the house...

I’ve had the honor of smoking in Al’s man cave. Good times. Can’t wait to do it again. Perhaps with Frankie Tripod next time.

If smoking inside is likely to lead to divorce.....maybe its time to plop down on the living room couch and light up.....something with a relatively high VSU
