no, I think the new plan is to build a moat and stock it with alligators from Florida.

And haul the dirt to New Orleans to fill in the flood zones.

it's terrible that anyone has to seek asylum

Asylum from what?

During the early days of the caravan, one of the news channels interviewed a few of the meek mothers with kids hanging from every limb and breast.
First one had no money. No food. No shelter.

Second one had an abusive boyfriend / baby-father who was a gang-banger.

I thought the asylum clause was based on government oppression. Not poor life choices.

Seems to me the "asylum" plea is a scam.
There. I said it.

And the irony: Unemployment is so low that we'll need to increase our immigration quotas any day now.
I say put the cheaters on the naughty list and ban them for life.

cherry picking two cases out of the supposed thousands of walkers made me remember pottsy's use of little scenarios to support large beliefs...

Asylum from what, specifically?

The "cherry picked" cases were on a liberal media outlet.
I've not heard anything since that called for asylum.

It's OK if you don't know.
But I'm surprised people would embrace the "asylum" claim without asking more.

You don't call 911 and NOT tell them the emergency.

neither of us know the situations of these people case by case.

I'm sure we agree that anyone without a legit claim should be denied.

I'm not as sure either of us is in a position to make a decision on the entire crowd.

meanwhile, my lawn needs raking.

There. ..

Not exactly....there's an ocean of room for interpretation...like with is a social group???

U.S. Code › Title 8 › Chapter 12 › Subchapter II › Part I › § 1158
8 U.S. Code § 1158 - Asylum
US Code

(B) Burden of proof
(i) In general
The burden of proof is on the applicant to establish that the applicant is a refugee, within the meaning of section 1101(a)(42)(A) of this title. To establish that the applicant is a refugee within the meaning of such section, the applicant must establish that race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion was or will be at least one central reason for persecuting the applicant.
