STILL OK to make offensive jokes. But only against conservatives.

SNL apparently has a member named Pete Davidson.
Never heard of him, but he made a "joke" at the expense of Dan Crenshaw. A GOP candidate that is a war veteran and lost an eye while in service for our country.

As long as you say sorry, it's OK.

Well, unless you're a conservative joking about a democrat or some other protected species.

And no.
I'm not outraged. Not at the "joke". Not for SNL keeping the lefty loser.

I'm merely pointing out (again) the obvious double standard that lefties claim doesn't exist.

I posted about this last night, you didn't see the offense nor the makeup, but still somehow issued the con battlecry...WAAAAAH!

Kidding aside, it was handled very well. Crenshaw was cool. Davidson has a unique comedic persona, and recently was briefly engaged to Ariana Grande (I know minimum about her but she dumped him) and Crenshaw put that in play too.

Given all that has happened between and with the two of them, why doubt his apology?

If Crenshaw not only accepted it but went before millions of viewers and had fun with it, why would conservatives make it an issue?
It was a tasteless attempt at humor, it failed, and the right thing was done.

I think that was Joe's point. Had the roles been reversed, would it have gone the same way? Or would the left have screamed for the guy to be fired?

The dems won the house back... has anyone seen protests screaming for the right to "resist" or for calls of incivility?

*spoiler alert*

Nope.

OK, I'll file this under the ever growing heading "Cons outraged about what they assume WOULD have happened".

no assumption involved ... we see it almost every day ... the double standard is rapidly becoming offensive in and of itself

not enough to complain at what does happen. It's now what would have happened in a situation that doesn't exist.

Got it.

I'm not outraged. I don't think Joe is either. I think the entire point is that we're NOT outraged, and we've seen how the left goes full outrage at these type of incidents.

Do you guys purposely miss the point?

I agree that the apology should be good enough.
It was a bad joke.
Nothing more.

Explain the very real double standard.
Why conservative mistakes have disproportional consequences.

Why do you see outrage?

Questions are asked and you cry outrage.

Stop channeling your inner Elizabeth Warren.

this one is only 2.5 years old, but way funnier than than the Flynn "article".

I'm gonna assume you were going for humor in both cases just by using the NY Post as a source for anything...and you really need to catch up on your rag reading!

So 2.5 years ago liberals were psychotic.

Does anyone think they've improved since?

Legalized Pot.
With the Massachusetts loop hole: It's legal to smoke it, but you can't purchase it anywhere legally.

Both the libs and the cons can laugh at that one.

Even more stupid are Florida laws on medical marijuana. It is still illegal to smoke buds. One who has been approved for a med mar card can only buy cartridges of what is basically hash oil, that must be vaped. How about letting the patient and doctor decide what works best and not interfering with voters' will to amend our state constitution? I am comfortable asserting that the legislature interfered with voter intent. The end result of all this is that the person who funded the med mar ballot initiative says he will spend another $10 million pursuing recreational mar in retribution...

That's so weird... According to my doctor at Kaiser, he was not at all ok with me taking any kind of further processed marijuana... Told me specifically to stay away from oils, waxes, and concentrates... He specifically wanted me to smoke actual pot...

Is that because oils, waxes and concentrates likely contain solvents and may not contain other canabanoids

No, it's because Opie is a more entertaining patient when he does a bong rip before his appointment.

Do you really want to compare?

Today I'm told that I overreact when I call a Trump hater a liberal.

Back then anyone who questioned President Obama was deemed racist.

the level of angst isn't even close.
It's laughable to compare it.

I was distracted when it was on, but there was a local TV thing showing massive amounts of bacteria and contamination on all tested products from legal local distributors.

The fellow who did the testing said he'd never consume anything in any form with those levels.

wouldn't be derogatory if you did only that...obviously you won't go back 2.5 years to read the political discourse here...but just look at your own posts for the past year or so to get a flavor of the vitriolic name calling

I get that this is a place to express opinions, to vent and have some fun, and that is your primary objective, but ... sometimes it feels different when you complain about how cons are described by libs, and yet condemn libs in more extreme ways...

a bully shouldn't expect any quarter...

So, I think offensive joke are like liable or slander. If it is actually true than it ok.

So while it might be offensive to some to say that Trump looks like a Cheeto - well, check the pictures...

I don't mind it, so no quarter needed.

But calling someone a liberal versus calling them racist? For essentially the same crime (partisan posturing)??

Please.

Come back to discuss this when you have actual ammunition.

It's never offensive to discuss the skin color of our President...
