You can chose to protect your kids with your planned parenthood coat hanger, and I will use my NRA provided machine gun with the scary black plastic.

Is a blanket statement the same as taking the top off of it and sewing it to the bottom to create daylight savingS ?

If you had cancer and I told you that shoving heads of broccoli up your ass would cure the cancer and you refused to do it, could I conclude that you love cancer more than broccoli?

Oddly enough, I've got some weird genetic thing that makes all 3 of those entirely unpalatable... I've tried and tried and tried... I love making asparagus for others, but can't be in the house when artichokes or broccoli are cooking...

NPR weekend edition ran a program last year that I caught about the science behind why urine smells sometimes after eating asparagus. I was so proud at that moment knowing my tax dollars were hard at work.

Opel,

I understand the 3 points of view you are making. Let me try to clarify mine.

Morality is learned behavior say 99% of the time. I didn't follow your rational with Dave. Perhaps I wasn't following close enough, what ever. All of the religious atrocities were due to learned behavior or convenience. I do question who understands Gods thoughts? The question is out of context given your rational with Dave. Though I do think it is a good question. Certainly Gods thoughts are beyond the comprehension of my mind.

I donno Spey - Seems studies of Primates and other animals show that altruism for the species is often a inherited behavior. Likely because natural selection favors the “what good for my kind is good for me” attitude.

I never bought into the idea that people would not know what is right unless shown. But I do believe that some people never learn what is right....

"In 2010, NPR revenues totaled $180 million, with the bulk of revenues coming from programming fees, grants from foundations or business entities, contributions and sponsorships.[23] According to the 2009 financial statement, about 50% of NPR revenues come from the fees it charges member stations for programming and distribution charges.[23] Typically, NPR member stations receive funds through on-air pledge drives, corporate underwriting, state and local governments, educational institutions, and the federally funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). In 2009, member stations derived 6% of their revenue from federal, state and local government funding, 10% of their revenue from CPB grants, and 14% of their revenue from universities.[23][37] While NPR does not receive any direct federal funding, it does receive a small number of competitive grants from CPB and federal agencies like the Department of Education and the Department of Commerce. This funding amounts to approximately 2% of NPR's overall revenues"...

I could be wrong, but I think that money is not given to National Public Broadcasting but actually divided up among the member stations...maybe like 1,000 across the country?

I love when I forget that I ate asparagus. The sudden reminder makes me laugh.

Gonna test your ability to absorb and retain info after a year: what did the NPR broadcast say about asparagus making urine smell?

edit: driving on the Big Island last month while on vacation, listening to NPR...had a scientist explain why mosquitos can fly during heavy rain, how flies can walk upside down on ceilings and walls and some insects and reptiles can "walk on water"

I believe it had to do with both the body processing sulphur and people’s olfactory being able to detect it. They found that people not being able to smell it was more rare than those who can process the sulphur without the stink.

But how do you know which is happening (can't smell it, or no odor to smell)?

Sounds like we need more funding.

Well, other than the 14% of the segment that was funded by his tax dollars.

so maybe his small percentage of the 6% if he actually lived in proximity to the station of origin and paid all 3 taxes...so there is some truth I suppose.

Worth it to me. Who else is studying why my urine smells funny?
