My wife and I have been members of eBay for over 15 years.
We both have 100% positive feedback profiles. NOT ONE negative or neutral comment has ever been left for either of us.
A few months ago, my wife decided to start selling items, to get a few extra bucks so we could spoil our granddaughter for Christmas.
She has made close to 50 sales, and has gotten 100% positive feedback comments on every one of them.
Yesterday, she gets an e-mail from eBay stating that they have frozen her account.
Their reason ? For failing to make a "guaranteed delivery date" on time.
The buyer of the item, (an $85 sale), never paid.
My wife , being a nice person, contacted him 4 times, and each time he had an excuse and promised to pay . . . but never did.
Turns out, he already has two prior "non-payment" comments in his feedback.
Does Ebay think/expect we are going to ship an $85 item to a documented non-payer WITHOUT getting paid ? d'oh!
Well, THAT ain't gonna happen. We are both closing our accounts and will never deal with Ebay again !
Okay . . . Rant over !

Happy Thanksgiving to all !

Dealing with Ebay can be exasperating. In my one experience where I found someone doing shill bidding, it took quite a while and evidence to get the shill bidder and seller suspended. Ive heard of sellers having problems and never have tried yet selling anything on Ebay. Have a happy and Ebay free Thanksgiving.

Hey, sometimes people have second thoughts on purchases. And maybe the guy had too many bourbons. I mean really- what sober guy would spend $85 on a used peni-s pump?...... (Let's renegotiate... $45?)

I still have my eBay account set up long ago.
It was pretty safe and cool back in the day.
Then the scammers/thieves moved in..................after a few not so great exchanges................I too quit doing any selling or buying.
Even Amazon is getting hammered by crooks these last few years. I got scammed good (as did about 100+ other people), but fortunately Amazon reimbursed me, and I'm assuming the others as well, but the scammer got away with it.
I'm wondering how long before they WON'T reimburse?

eBay is all about taking care of buyers and screwing sellers.

I collect Spyderco knives and for years eBay did virtually nothing about Cheese sellers peddling counterfeit Spyderco knives. Myself and many other collectors reported them for years. Spyderco had to sue eBay to get them to act. FWIW, there are still plenty of counterfeit knives, optics and firearm accessories being sold on eBay.

As mentioned above, it's happening on Amazon and other retailers. Another scam to be aware of, low life scum will buy a legitimate item and return a counterfeit for credit. Be aware of "new" items that appear to be previously opened or not in original packing. Some counterfeits come in packaging that is hard to tell from the originals.

Exactly what I was thinking. I've always had good experiences with their customer service.

As a seller or a buyer?

I quit selling about 2 years ago for bum buyers. Nonpayment, then negative feedback, then ebay freezing my account.

Prior to that there were several times I was forced to issue a full refund to the purchaser who claimed they never received item despite having tracking that showed delivered.

I even saw a game I sold and refunded in full, relisted on the buyer's account. I knew for sure it was mine because they reused the pictures I had in my listing.

Hence why I no longer sell there. I just keep it face to face locally through Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. At least be a scammy **** to my face and let me have a say in how it goes down. EBay is for the buyer, and sellers have basically zero protection.

I stopped buying on eBay after I got a bootleg CD and several bootleg DVDs. And eBay wouldn't refund my money.

Meh, I still buy from ebay from time to time but only for chit that does not matter and only if the price I find is cheaper than any other place I can get said item including shipping. Now I buy mostly from Amazon and only items that are covered by Prime.
