Not many people know how good they are. If you can find a cab, definitely buy it!

This^. Just smoked one today. Not the strongest but very flavorful and they don't need much aging to be spectacular.

There’s a reason why Robert said “if you can find”.

Yes, the cabs are harder to come by but worth the search.

Okay, this may sound like a noobish question, but would please you tell me the difference between 2 boxes of 25 and a cab of 50 ?

In one hand you have 2 boxes of 25, a box of 50 in the other.

I haven't seen a 50 cab available in years. If anyone finds one of those for sale I'd certainly be interested in a split.

It has been my experience that cigars from a cab develop much better over time. Not just with Choix but others. YMMV

Thank you, DED.
That's what I wanted to know.
It won't be a issue for nixon, though. He'll have them all smoked in a week or two after he gets them. d'oh!

if I remember correctly, aren't the cigars from certain cabs rounder while the 25 count boxes produce a bit of a box press shape?
or did I imagine that?

makes sense, more space for air circulation and "breathing".

Any guesses as to why?
Are they different "shapes" as proposed by FrankieT?

haven't bought a Cuban cab in years, but I'm pretty sure the cigars were round or actually cylindrical

Generally the cabs aren’t as tightly packed as dress boxes. Better air circulation.

Back on track.......cigars from cabs are "IN THE ROUND" where as dress boxed cigars are slightly pressed.Air circulation could also be an issue. All I can say with certainty is an H.Upmann Mag 46 from a dress box aged 10 years vs the same from a cab is night and day.I have a few left from the dress box(2008) and one from the cab(2008).Gonna hit those dress box 46's again real soon but I expect little change after this long.

I had a dress box from 09 that became, after a few years, easily the best box of cigars I've ever purchased. Was rather sad when they were gone. Recent versions seem to be on a decent trajectory from my limited sample (i.e., I buried the box and forgot all about them).

So I take it from having only on left that the cab aged better? Extra air flow between the cigars would definitely make sense for a different end result.

And Nixon, if you did still need someone for a split, I would be interested. I have limited CC experience, so certainly trying to broaden those horizons.
