Good Morning BOTL and SOTL,

I have a friend who said he likes Victor Sinclair Bohemian Bamboo but I have not had one. I am looking to get him a few but I don't know anything about them. They are about $2 to $2.50 per cigar. I have not had any of Victor Sinclair cigars....

What Victor Sinclair Bohemian 15th Anniversary Connecticut?

Please help...

He likes the Bamboo...but you are asking about the 15th Anni....What?

Many years ago, I went through many (most) VS offerings here because they were cheap and I didn't know any better.

Here's my observations:
1. Some VS were among the worst cigars I ever tried.
2. Most of those that weren't horrid, ranged between sucky and boring as hell.
3. The Primeros CT was surprisingly decent - mild, nutty ...good enough morning cigar, especially at around a buck a piece.
4. All of the 'full size' 55's were horrendous, including the corojo....with one very strange exception. The tinned 55 Corojo Petites are pretty darned good cigarillos. At 4 bucks for a tin of 10, I have been smoking them on my morning commute a couple times a week for many years

They should name these Don Victor Sinclair......in keeping with the tradition of all the other low brow Dons.

Someone gifted me a sampler years ago.......not as bad as what I expected. No off flavors, seemed to be constructed well. Not inspiring enough for a followup purchase.

If you send any to tigercw any, make sure you pre-cut them for him.

Thanks.

Are the Victor Sinclair Bohemian 15th Anniversary close to the Bamboos?

Never had either....but when a trash peddler is charging $30/box, I wouldn't be expecting anything better than chitty cigars.

Maybe I was too circumspect above -- 90+% of the VS cigars I tried are awful.....and to buy some as a 'gift' without even having tried them ...well....I thought you said it was for a 'friend'....if its really a friend, buy him cigars that you have tried and can personally attest are not chitty

I am going to give him some good cigars, but I want to make sure. every once in awhile I find a good cheap cigar. hard to do but my friend is a social smoker... 10 or least cigars a year. I hope he starts liking the cigar life...

thanks for your input.

The Bamboo sampler I got was sub par even at the buck a stick I paid. Never had the 15th ann. bohemian and the only VS I found even promising was the Victor Sinclair 10th Anniversario. I only had five of them and never spotted any others- might even have 1 or 2 left - but I doubt it. You will have better luck finding a good cigar from other brands.
I remember once getting a bundle of 20 VS churchills for $ 6 and wouldn't even buy them again at that price.

I've tried several of the VS lines and they were all bland, flat tasting (but well constructed) cigars. I think their main dude just has no palate and can't blend worth a ****.

Compare to Puros Indios, Ron Mexico, Dark Sharks, and Lone Wolf ... Victor Sinclair scrapes the bottom of the cigar barrel

There was a time you could get 5-packs of VS cigars here for 50 cents a smoke and bundles even less. For that price the 10th anniversio and the triple corojo were worth it. Good cheap Boat & Barbeque smokes. Some other VS offerings so bad you needed to drown them in a bucket of water so not even a lingering oder remained. Once the better ones got much above the $1 range there were better choices even for cheapo smokes. Given the general VS profile and history of some being ok and some being terrible, I would not get those Bamboos as a gift unless you knew your friend had smoked them and liked them. If he did and does, who cares what anyone else thinks.

As a friend, he needs to try to guide him to the light.

Dear god, do you realize you can get sublime stuff of stellar quality like the two-year pre-aged, 2016 limited-edition, ultra-complex five-nation blend, Davidoff-rolled, perfectly-constructed Room 101 Artist Series "Chief Cool Arrow" for $4.00 per cigar, and that price includes a stunning-looking, Spanish cedar-lined, glossy-finished box with slick metallic graphics?

(Insert multiple similar crazy-high "bang-for-buck" deals here; they happen routinely).

Given that, why would you pay $2.50 for garbage?

(Yes I know, his friend may not like the Chief, it might be too strong, etc. etc. Good points, but I just wanted to comment on the enormous yawning chasm of quality difference for just $1.50 more... very close to the maximum quality difference possible, IMO!)
