I thought the first round of store closings meant the end for them. Just looked at an article today after seeing this post and read that they started a hedge fund to try and save the company. That sounds like a hail mary at the end of the game to me.

Would tend to agree on the "Hail Mary."

They took too long to get their online game going.
They could have been a player..........but just got gobbled up.
Really horrible upper mgmt.
We have a small one here in our small town.
Wonder if there's gonna be any deals on inventory??

Penney's is next. There is simply no need for these stores anymore. Their time is past. RIP.

Years of customer dissatisfaction- lousy products and no replacement parts. 80 more stores to close. The only things I've bought there in the past 10 years is eyeglasses and that store is closing.

they fronted for rip off operations by leasing their "good" name for years.
The more faithful the Sears customer, the deeper they took it in the azz.

Wow, I forgot about some of those. You can add Gemco, Western Auto, Best Products, Toys-R-US and Walden Books among others.

I used to buy tobacco and Accessories at Bradlees. Loved Zayres and Ames that bought them out only to go out themselves (goal was to be biggest retailer-forgot the bottom line).

Is Radio Shack still breathing ?

I heard Sprint may be going into it's last year.

Had a lousy experience 20 rears ago and never went back. Happy to see them sink beneath the waves. Do feel bad for the affected families.

At one time they had high quality tools, not the best but still usable. Then they began manufacturing their tools in China using inferior processes and did away with the lifetime warranty. Haven’t been inside one of their stores in decades.

I have some Craftsmen tools/toolbox from about 18 years ago. I don't think I have ever bought big ticket items from Sears.

But if they're closing... I better swing by and see if there are any deals to be had.

I'm in the market for some appliances so stopped by the Sears to check out their advertised store closing sale. Ridiculous, $1,000 fridges marked up to $2,200 and then 50% off. Still can be found cheaper for same fridge at most other stores that carry the brand. Sales like that are why they must be going out of business. Just not in tough with consumer needs.

My wife and I had been loyal SEARS customers for almost 40 years.
Then, two years ago, during the record breaking heat and humidity summer, they diccked us around when we tried to get our window air conditioner replaced because they couldn't fix it.
SEVEN separate service calls before we FINALLY got resolution to the matter. By THAT time, the summer was over !
I told them I would NEVER spend another penny at SEARS. Guess it's a moot point now.
