I was watching this video recently about purging any ammonia in your cigar by putting a lighter to the end and blow through the cigar. As he blew through the end burned with a blue flame. He stated to blow until the flame stopped burning. Has any one ever heard of this, thought it was interesting

I heard if you put a match next to your anus and farted it would burn a greenish color.

I just keep telling them how fat they are because of the ammonia, and how much I’d love them if they didn’t have that much. Eventually they’ll purge themselves

It works, but only for a few puffs. And since you're blowing moist air through the cigar, it causes burn problems. I only do it if I'm already close to the end of the cigar.

If you run across stogies that taste of ammonia or smell of ammonia just dry box em for a bit then put them in your humidor and call it a day. That way you not sitting there with your herf buddies while they are enjoying a good smoke like normal people, you are sitting over in the corner with your cigar looking like you are trying to give it a backwards BJ. Gotta throw the BS flag! Ammonia burns yellow, I had too much chemistry and physics to pass on this one. I have actually purged a few cigars while smoking and had a noticeable blue and reddish flame, BUT, most of that would be oils and VOC's from the fermented leaf. NOT ammonia, you would definitely taste the ammonia, as well as have a burning sensation from the buildup

Thank you Sir, can't help myself, hehe!

As for "dry boxing", that means to put the cigar in a place of lower humidity for a short period, typically, I would suggest 55-65% rH, some guys keep an extra humidor at a lower Rh, just for this purpose. I have a really nice travel humidor that came in the Saints and Sinners Club 2018 kit. I have been using that for dry-boxing. You might have to leave them in for a week or so, based on their current rH.

I was thinking both. He did keep a lot of cigars and we all know how much storage space that requires. Gonz

I DO IT when I either relight a stogie or it is becoming bitter. it DOES smooth out the flavor when you do it.
