Friends from Florida have been visiting the last 10 days. I drank far too many beers in Vegas and San Diego to number them. Not drinking tonight.

However, I had Ayinger, Firestone Walker 805 and Lager, Paulaner, Ballast Point CA Kolsch, Hofbrau, Heineken, Kilkenny... and prolly others.

My liver hurts.

From Sunday

3496 - Cape May Brewery Last Hurrah American Imperial Stout 15% abv
3497 - Left Hand Brewing Pixan Pepper Porter

Cape May is my most popular local and while they generally make some good stuff they lack in the dark beer department. They make an ok Imperial stout called concrete ship but Last Hurrah was lacking and overpriced. Their regular production coffee stout is meh but their regular production chocolate porter is decent.

Still deciding what I want to start the new year off with today.

Ever hear anything about the tequila being dumped into the beer instead of aging in barrels?

3489 - Cape May Brewery Last Hoorah (meh)

first time was in the link. I did hear that there was talk of bottom of the vat being sold in growlers vs the canned and tastings at the bar...but that seemed to have gone away.

I honestly don't know. It might be true or just some people with axes to grind, but they sure have become amazingly popular and garnered tremendous accolades in a very short time.

Makes no sense for them to play games with little to win.

I really like Funky Buddha beers, I visited the brewery while in Florida. They do some pretty different stuff.
Being in MD sadly it's not available.

Would agree that Funky Buddha does have some good beers. One of the shops that I visit in the pan handle every four or five weeks carries some of the Funky Buddha offerings as well as Clown Shoes. Based on the frequency of my visits it is hit or miss so to speak on what maybe available.

I probably haven't listened to Monk in over 30 years! The man was a misunderstood genius. I need to revisit his music again. Thanks for the "reminder."

Last time I was in Florida I took my growlers and planned to fill a couple at Funky Buddha but never made it there.

3513 - CoHo Brewing flight

New local brewery opened this week, not bad and one offering I never heard of. They had one offering called Chalk Outline that was a sahti style beer (which I never heard of) and was very good. Made with juniper berries, rye and citra hops.

I had one today... I didn't drink it, I used it as my liquid to make a 3# pork butt for pulled pork...it came out pretty good, but I can't say the Porter actually made a difference...Think

3520 Barrel aged 3 Floyds Behemoth. For $30 a bottle it's a solid "meh" Behemoth is wife's favorite beer, and among my top 10. It's much better with just bottle cellaring over barrel aging. First (and probably last) time I've had the BA variant.
