Heard that term for first time this morning. An angry Democratic black man calling into CSPAN said he is through with the Democratic party, largely because of immigration battles. He appears to be jumping on the Trump Train.
He made it sound like its almost an actual movement or something.

I don't yet know what to make of it. Republicans...or more accurately 'conservative personalities' who love to vilify 'identity politics' practically wet themselves any time a vocal black person says something good about GOP or Trump. They must be absolutely giddy. Maybe its Kanye....IDK....but the idea that waves of blacks would abandon the Democratic party.....even if they don't exactly embrace the GOP....if there is a visible movement away from the Dems, it could get interesting. Even if it is only for the singular issue:that D's have forsaken them for immigrants....or for the Hispanic vote...whatever the reason or perception, it could be interesting to watch. I suspect that it is probably too minor to be a 'thing'....and probably won't amount to much any time soon. But, just maybe....maybe there will be a number of blacks who have gotten over the idea that GOP is just plain racist...and that the Dems; or at least the 'progressives' have taken them for granted and moved on to the next voting block opportunity.
No clue if there's a hill of beans there, but I'll keep an eye out....if only for curiosity and entertainment's sake. Check out their web site. Not a lot of substance yet, but some powerful images and quotes.....who knows....could be some old white dude in charge....hope not

I wouldn't read too much into it.
People are individuals. Despite how much each party wants to pidgeon hole minorities into little boxes and say "all X's vote like this". The reality is, and should have always been, that they should be treated like individuals who make their own choices, good or bad, just like whites do.

That being said... The GOP is not likely to she'd their "racist" label any time soon given that they just this month had their Steve King "I dunno why white supremacy is a bad word" issue... And while they kicked him off committee and said "bad king, bad!" That doesn't change the fact that people who identify themselves as republicans voted for him.

But, like I said. Everyone is an individual. To expect all blacks to vote one way or another robs them of that agency. Some of them may vote for republicans for the same reasons that others may think the party is racist.

I agree. Which, perhaps why I found this interesting. These don't claim individuality. They identify with this group.

I've liked most of what I've seen of Candace Owen in the past, but didn't know Blexit was her term. There's a pretty good profile of her in tomorrow's WaPo....fair, even.
