I'm heading to the west coast and will be in the LA area on Sunday for the Superbowl.

Need a good sports bar and/or smoking lounge recommendation.

The Patriots are playing the Rams.
I suspect that it will be mostly Patriot fans out there...

where in L.A. will you be, and how far are you able to travel?

If in Downtown, the 2nd Street Cigar Lounge is good. Bo's in the Long Beach area is good. Downey Brewing Company is a good sports bar, but not a cigar lounge. You can smoke in their outdoor patio, tho...

I highly recommend Marty's in Glendora, where Opel and I met up last month...

If you're up for about an hour fifteen minute or so drive from LAX, come over to my place in Corona, I'm hosting a Super Bowl Party.

I can say for certainty that tail would be tolerated, if not warmly welcomed, at my place...can't say that about any of the others though...

there were a lot of Cowboys fans at the Coliseum a couple weeks ago, though...

I've got jury duty the day after the super bowl... If not for that I'd try to talk you into meeting at Marty's... It's a great shop, away from the LA crowd... Tail, how long you going to be there?

I'm setting up for a trade show in Anaheim.
Somewhat tight schedule on game day.
Land in Long Beach at 1:20pm.
Need to find a place for kickoff a little over two hours later.

Wish I were arriving earlier in the day.
No brainer getting to Corona then!

Watching late night TV. Inside the NFL.

They're talking about the superbowl and mentioned that the Patriots have been in 13 AFC championship games since 2001... and the last 8 in a row.

Holy sh1t.

Have to agree Holy Shizz, they are definitely the most impressive sports franchise in my lifetime and doing it with a different roster every year as well. The Jordan Bulls were pretty impressive but I do believe this run trumps that one.

TG I heard the Rams fans will just an hour late to the bars for the start of the game so you should be fine with your TB12 jersey.

I'll be wearing a Pats shirt, but I don't favor the jerseys with players names.

Counterpoint: Jordan lost his friggin mind at the peak of their dominance and decided he was a baseball player. Not saying the Pats aren't kicking azz of course, but who knows how many more years the Bulls would have run over the competition with the roster they had then?

and yet Bill Russell and the Celts won the title 8 years in a row and 11 out of 13...would have been 10 in a row but he broke his ankle before the playoffs one year.

Russell played before my lifetime or that would probably be top on my list.

I guess Yankees had a good run in the 90s to but buying championships feels less accomplished to me.

Invite still open... I'll be serving three varieties of tacos: carne asada, chicken adobo and carnitas...friends and relatives will be bringing sausages, chili, meatballs, deviled eggs, hot dogs, stuff for nachos...hot tub will be open...expect 25-30 peeps, including 4 grandkids and three of their young cousins...mostly Rams fans

But if you want someplace closer to Long Beach, Bo's on Bellflower Blvd is about 10-15 minutes away from the airport. Good selection of cigars and beverages...comfortable seats...several TV's...you can bring in your own food...there's an In n Out Burger nearby...Johnny Reb's is a good barbecue restaurant near there...

we'll also have a variety of beverages...

edit: I hate the Celtics, and am still mourning the Dodgers' loss to the Red Sox...

This is much appreciated, and my lack of confirmation has nothing to do with my desire to go.
I should have posted prior to changing my flight and I could have arrived earlier or even the night before.
It doesn't seem to be in the cards, but I'll PM you if I can find a way.

This is an annual show so I'll be back next year.
Is your SB party an annual event?
I'm smelling tacos for next years Patriot extravaganza. Of course, your Rams won't be invited, but you can watch the commercials.

lol...I was thinking that the Pats may be having their last stand this year, win or lose...lots of rumors of palace intrigue that may bring it down...

if the Patriots are in again next year, we are cancelling our annual Super Bowl Party...even my wife was rooting for that "cute kid, Mahomes" ...she's not much of a pro football fan...she went to USC so that's who she cares about...

j/k...this is our fifth annual Super Bowl party...we'll prolly still do a Super Bowl party next year, since my kids are big fantasy football fans and into pro football in general... so hopefully you can be here even if the Pats aren't playing in it...

Not sure I understand.

I once read about the Pats not playing in it. But I'm too young to remember.

And none of this makes up for the travesty of how the league is handling this.

Did you know that it's the third year in a row that they won't allow any Patriots to the Pro Bowl?

It's here in Orlando. I planned to go buy some tickets from some fans with extras, but it is like 50F with constant rain all day and night. This Florida boy has no interest in going outside today...

The skills competition looks like fun, but the game is painful to watch and gets worse every year.
