Palama, I'm officially jealous. Once I get the Delorean up to 88mph my first stops will be Jimi (Experience or Gypsy's, I'm not picky), The Who (pre Loon passing), and Zeppelin (pre Bonzo passing)

Missed The Who in ‘67 when they opened for Herman’s Herman’s. An odd pairing fo’ sure. They didn’t come back till 2004.

Saw LZ during their 1970 tour to promote Led Zeppelin III. Jimmy Page was like a stick. It looked like he was gonna fall down because his Les Paul outweighed him.

Wow! Man, haven’t listened to this since the ‘70s! My first CM album was “Curtis/Live!”

For all he did, don’t think most people appreciate his talents. I need to revisit his albums...thanks for the unintentional “reminder”. Beer

Kane Brown - Kane Brown

Saw him on some morning show last week and my initial thought was, “Oh, another rapper....”. Boy, was I wrong!

Although I’m not a big Country fan, I like this guy.

Saw that too....bit disorienting....but in the end it was country and fairly or not, I was pretty dismissive

Supertramp - Crime of the Century

One of my earliest serious headphone album discoveries....good turntable, quality amp and a pair of Koss that weighed about 5 pounds.....made hair stand up on my neck...every single time.....saw them a few times - every show opened with that harmonica opening School....still knee-buckling, even recorded. For me it ranked up there with show openers like Ride the Tiger and Thunderstruck

I wasn’t paying too much attention to the show, heard some sort of introduction, looked up and saw this light-skinned, neck-tattooed, biracial guy with some white guys around him. I was pretty blown away when he started to sing. Never in a million years would I have expected a baritone country singer. Iffin’ you had closed your eyes, you woulda thought for sure he was a good ol’ (White) country boy.

As far as headphones go, my first pair of Koss headphones were the Pro-4As and they were pretty heavy. Dunno about 5 pounds heavy but after awhile, they sure felt that way. My hair-stand-on-end moment was listening to Santana’s “Caravanserai”. The way the guitars “swished” around were mind blowing. Made me lightheaded...and I wasn’t even stoned! BigGrin

I think I've bought 4 versions of this album. The original vinyl release, Quadrophonic vinyl (...even though I didn't have a Quad set up...), initial CD and then the remastered version.

Jefferson Starship - Dragon Fly -

Was looking up something about Dragon Fly and came upon an even more interesting Dragonfly....never heard it before...similar era and sounds like San Francisco...and while there's no Grace Slick, the psychedelic guitars are pretty awesome in their own right:

Hope, at some point in your youthful hazy life, you had a chance to see the Allmans with Duane. The only time I got to see them was on their "Brothers and Sisters" tour but Duane and Berry were long gone. Sad

Letting Pandora do the work this morning...it is doing a pretty good job; Van Morrison Station

Hall and Oats is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I have denigrated in public while enjoying in private. The pop-ish simplicity seemed quite evident, but there's quality in the compositions that I overlooked years ago with my nose in the air.

Van Morrison! ThumpUp

When H&O started to change their sound with “War Babies” (...produced by Todd Rundgren - I should have expected that...), I kinda lost interest in them. Really liked their folky, blue-eyed soul sound on the first two albums. However, as they turned more pop-ish in the early ‘80s, came back to enjoy listening to them again. I have to say, in their prime, they had some really catchy music.

The Cars - self-titled first album

I remember when I first heard this album in ‘76. Was working at Records Hawaii and Pat, the other clerk that day, put it on. We had just gotten a bunch of demos the day before so was trying to listen to the new stuff. Within a minute of “Good Times Roll”, I had a feeling we were gonna like these new guys. Everyone else at the store liked it and it quickly became a staff favorite so it was probably played a couple times a day. In the first few months after it’s release, we sold a bunch of copies to customers that were shopping when it was on. As much as we liked them, we had no idea that they’d turn into such a big time group.

65F / 55% RH / 14 mph - I know this would be considered “warm” in most parts of the Mainland but it’s flockin’ FREEZING to us Hawaii folks...sweatshirt, jacket and long socks out in the garage!
