Looks like I get a "day off".... Mom offered to come get my daughter in an hour and then pick up the boy from school... So I get to head to the courthouse to get my daughter's birth certificate to register her for kindergarten... Then gots to finish trimming a single candyland plant I harvested yesterday... And the kitchen is only half painted, so back to that project this afternoon... And Costco... Gotta hit Costco... Time to channel my inner danm...

Raining here today, but 46 degrees so I like it. Offer accepted on the house I am buying. Inspection on the house is this Thurday. It's in great shape, though I am replacing the carpeting before we move in. Closing on March 4th. I am now officially excited.

Three days ago, it was 4 degrees and there was snow on the ground.
Today, it's a bright sunny balmy 56 degrees.
Nice enough to make me think about washing the car.
(After thinking about it, lazy bastid that I am, I decided not to ! )

Mail lady must've been having a bad day.

Got two letters for other people and a package for someone else. Package was smooshed to chit, sounded like broken glass, and a pretty clear boot heel print on the box. It had "fragile" stamped all over it. Was in a approx 6x8 inch priority mail box. Sturdy box should've been fine except for that heelprint.

Took puppy dog for a walk and redelivered the stuff.

Put my waders back on to unclog the ditch. Full garbage bag of adult diapers in the middle of the ditch (thankfully not at the culvert, or it would be super plugged) and several potato chip boxes clogging the culvert. Some azzhat throws adult diapers in the ditch fairly regularly. Sometimes it's a walmart bag with one or two, sometimes it's a few bags, but this time it was a full kitchen garbage bag that broke when I tried to lift it. Been going on for 10 years I've lived here. Neighbor says it was happening for years before I moved in. Will go a few months without any, then it starts up for a while and stops.

I've put a trailcam on the mailbox but the memory card maxes out with just cars driving by, lots of car traffic on my road. Even if I got the diaper dumper on camera it would take hours on hours to sift through the pictures on a daily basis.

I got 30 minutes of sleep in my computer chair about an hour ago. Was working on taxes and then woke up to the boy asking me to turn on the xbox.

Not totally sleepless. Not talking Just not enough.

Time consuming yes. Unmarsking the Secret Chitter, Scooby Doo style (literally doo) would be oh so worth it.

Imagine the mugshot- with the puffy bottom in county skivvies.

Do it! Do it! Do it!

About 3 miles south, and 5 miles east. I moved from Wisconsin to just south of the border into Illinois and 30 miles from the lake about 2 and 1/2 years ago.

Congrats on the move to Illinois.

I don't think any Wisconsinite ever said that before.

No, nobody wants to move to IL. Sometimes it's necessary, but only short term.

It's a terrible place to live. If you can do IN or WI while still getting to work, much more better er.

Let the dogs out to pee, immediate commotion. Flipped the flood lights on and big dog is fighting with some critter but immediately stopped and grey critter lying on the ground with dog circling. I went out there to see what was going on and it was a possum, playing possum. Kicked it and it hissed and jumped at me.

Shot it twice and carried it out to the compost pile.

Usually dispatch vermin with 22 short from a Henry rifle which is damn near silent. But I didn't have time to grab it. Figured the dog had done it's job. But it was very much alive, so it got two rounds of 38+p from the LCR on my belt.

My ears are still ringing.

You might have scared away Chitter Diaper Man in the process too. Are you far enough in the country where gunshots would be ignored?

One house across the street flipped outdoor lights on after the shots, but that was it.

If you're not being a dipchit, nobody cares. Many neighbors and myself routinely shoot in our yards. But not at 9pm. 9pm gunshots means there's a problem.

But no cops getting called. I'm just outside of town, and far enough away from any subdivision/hoa nightmare neighbors that there's no worry so long as you aren't being a dipchit. If anything, 9pm gunshots are gonna draw out others helping out, not the cops. Even if cops were called, they've got a 30 minute response time on a good day as evidenced by the times I've called for people crashing into my ditch and trees.

As long as there isn't any video of the possum with his front legs in the air mouthing "Paws up, don't shoot" you should be fine.

That might've happened, but there's no video.

House cameras look like I walk out there, stop by the bird feeders, go to the shed and come back , pick something up and then walk into the woods.
