This right here is why I just mock people these days...

An argument was posited that AOC's words make no sense.
In defense of that argument, gene provides a large number of quotes which he thinks are from AOCs green new deal resolution (the words bill and resolution were used a number of times).
He is proven to be wrong.

Rather than change his mind, say "oh... I guess she might not be as crazy as I thought" he just wanders off. I'm sure he has not changed his view in any way, despite the removal of the evidence on which he based his views.

No one changes their minds. It's a more worthwhile use of my time to mock people for their views rather than change them.

So... Yeah... Maybe that meme would work better if we put genes picture on it?

I've changed my mind a couple of times by ideas presented here...

on the possibility of gun control in the US...waste of time...gun fanatics are in firm control...and despite Trump's vow, we can tolerate more carnage...

and on trying to influence people to stop public expressions, as when people tried to stop "Baby It's Cold Outside" from being played on radio stations...censorship is best defeated by more open and free expression...even if you disagree with what is being said...

Actually, she is certified bat sh*t crazy.
Gene didn't quote her, but if he had what are the chances you would have agreed?
Because she is.
Bat sh*t Crazy.

But she's still pretty hot.

People do not like to admit they are wrong. Not suprising really, that's just human nature. People use media sources they are comfortable with, again human nature. Breaking out of your individual paradigm is hard. When you read what she actually wrote there is value there I think. Obviously she is being far reaching and extreme in my opinion. But improving the environment is a worthwhile goal. Many of the old fossils here don't see it that way. It does suprise me that so many, not only here, can have scientific fact in front of them, and be able to delude themselves into knowing it is false.

Actually, I downloaded a PDF of her proposal: https://ocasio-cortez.house.gov/sites/ocasio-cortez.house.gov/files/Resolution%20on%20a%20Green%20New%20Deal.pdf

And it's not as comprehensive or detailed as the one I quoted, it's just a collection of reactionary assumptions.

"Whereas the United States is currently experiencing several related crises, with—
(1) life expectancy declining while basic needs, such as clean air, clean water, healthy food, and adequate health care, housing, transportation, and education, are inaccessible to a significant portion of the United States population;"

Do believe there are Clean Air, Housing, Education and Transportation crises?

(Other than transporting homeless away from your neighborhood and housing them elsewhere.)

So now the stance is it's full of "reactionary assumptions" as opposed to "crazy assumptions"

Well... Life expectancy is declining in the US...
Clean air is an issue for a number of places in the US (just in SF we had unbreathable air for a couple weeks)... "Significant" might be an exaggeration.
Clean water... Hell, wasn't that a whole problem recently in Flint? And west Virginia I think? Again... "Significant" may be an exaggeration.
Healthy food.... Well...that's true. There are things called "food deserts"...
Adequate health care? Kind of a given...
Housing... Also true, maybe an exaggeration to say "significant".
Transportation.... This has been brought up frequently already regarding ID requirements for voting. There is a percentage of our US population which does not have access to transportation due to money. Again "significant" is probably an unnecessary word
Education? Hell... Don't pretend you don't complain about education on this very site. I don't know which level she's talking about, but I know I've seen people here complaining about education... Some of them complaining about the liberals changes to the education system.

So yeah... Other than her use of the term "significant" she's not wrong by saying these things are not available to some percentage of our population.

Significant itself is a throwaway word... It means different things to different people depending on the context. When you're looking at jewelry for the woman, a 20% cost difference may be significant. When looking at a car for yourself, that 20% may not be that significant a difference... 1% mortality rate with a pharmaceutical drug is "significant"...

Aha! So when Trump announces border security a "crises" after signing the new spending bill you'll be on board.

FWIW, complaints do equal a crises.

If she turns you on, i.e., sapping to her words, go for it, but don't confuse base feelings with intelligent thought.

Gene I wouldn’t waste your time....I posted an actual link to her original doc and he was silent......he’s a sad pathetic man who loves obsessing about things.

Z I make a point of not looking at any link you post here. You don't generally post anything from reliable sources and frequently it's a YouTube link without any identifiable information in it, so there's no way to pull the information from an actual worthwhile source.

Don't whine that I'm not responding to you. Do better.

Gene...no. That's a dumb inference.
You even assume I'm on board with AOCs identification of her crisis.

Jesus why is it always all or nothing with you people.

I can disagree with parts of her green new deal and think it's grossly inaccurate to portray her as incomprehensible.

Her document is a reasonably written, likely unachievable set of goals.some of those goals are not goals I share. So? Doesn't make her some sort of idiot. If she acts like an idiot (for examples, see the entirety of Trump's Twitter feed) I would call her one.

Victor I rarely care because you’re an ignorant jackass, so by all means don’t think I was holding my breath. And if you’re reading comprehension was above 2nd grade level (sorry 2nd graders) you would have seen I was talking to Gene. So feel free to self fornicate

Here is proof Victor didn't really read my post. If he had he would have read that I was agreeing merry complaining about something makes it a crisis.

I meant to write, "...complaints do not equal a crisis."

I also misspelled crisis in addition to leaving out a work as I am very prone to do.

Huh?
I responded to the first sentence of your post.
I ignored the second sentence because it made no sense.
Honestly, even with your correction it still doesn't really make sense.

And I ignored your third sentence because it didn't make any sense either.

Given that most everyone here is typing on phones, I don't bother judging people for grammar or spelling mistakes. Fat fingers happens. If whatever you tried to say in your second or third sentences is that important you'll restate it.

And z... Yeah... You weren't talking to me. You were passive aggressively whining about me to gene, in a thread you know I would read. Because you're weak.

He wishes......I’m way out of his league.

He even sent me a PM once saying that gay sex prevents abortion, so he’d **** my **** for Jesus.

He’s a strange one.

Z, you could learn a lot from Victor.

First, there's his ability to snap a towel with the best of them.
Then there's...

Did I tell you about the towel thing?

It's funny to joke that there's some homosexual tension between z and I... But that would imply some sort of equality or equivalency between us.

There isn't.

He has gone so far into the right fringe of unvetted information that he is a danger.
