Think

Kind of an "off center" flick....
(A western)

I knew "something was up" when I saw FRENCH AND SPANISH production companies with foreign producers, director and miscellaneous people.

The trailers almost portrayed it as a comedy...it is not a comedy...
Joachim Phoenix, john c. Reilly,
Jake Gyllenhaal, Rutgar Hauer...

A melancholic western with "real time period dialog"...a little like Amish/ German "backwards speak" all through the movie...
Great scenery, good shoot outs, real muddy towns...
Well worth the $1.75...but some may find it TOO SLOW and meandering...
I thought it was a refreshing look at the old west.

Not sure if it even got to the U.S. theatres or was a NETFLIX ORIGINAL?

though I may not see it, I actually like the description.
but then I loved the slow pace and muddy towns in Missouri Breaks. just felt so real.

Didn't realize red box was still around... Used to be a couple here, but our little library rents out movies and video games for free... Kinda put an end to them...

Jonesey, you should watch The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs on Netflix if you haven't yet. I think you'd like it.

Library does have movies for free, but rarely can you get a popular title.

We still have a few Family Video rental stores in my area.

But Redbox is putting a hurting on em.

Helps that internet service/speed is pretty spotty in my area. Can't always reliably stream a full video. Usually ends up adjusting resolution down so much that a VHS would look like a blu ray in comparison.

I've tried to rent movies to stream a few times, and it always ends up poorly, so we just use the Redbox that's in the entry of every big store in the area.

Also thanks Jones for pointing out that it isn't a comedy. Assumed it was with John C Reiley on the cover art, and almost picked it up as a redbox freebie when I rented the Queen movie.
