Thanks. I may have to bite this time. I have won over a dozen singles here for $2.50, but that those wins are few and far between.

Same place, just snagged 2 boxes of skinny monsters (cazadores) for $67 each... With free shipping that's about as cheap as I've seen them this year...

Just smoked one (MB3, torpedo) that I got from this same deal in Dec 2017. 14 months of age. Great construction and even burn, flavor was good, but not exceptional, strength was medium. At the $3 each deal price, I'd much rather tack on another $1 and get the considerably-superior $4 Chief Cool Arrow from the same place (along with yet another of those gorgeous boxes, even though I'll probably give it away because I have a lot of them already).

The Chief costs 33% more but is more than 33% better IMO. Many more flavors in there, much more complexity (5-nation blend), also more strength (even though the Chief is already aged over 2 years), and construction is even slightly better, thus I'll pass on the MB3 deal. I have several of the MB3 deals already aging away, anyway.

Mittens, if the Monticello sampler goes on sale, it's worth checking out. I think you would like that particular cigar and comes with mb3s, melanios and regular v's.

I know the feeling. I had to go out and buy another 116-quart Sterilite container just for all the Chief boxes I bought.

If you haven't bought/tried the Chief yet, here's some helpful info:

Unless you have some kind of hatred of San Andreas maduro leaf, or maduros in general, I cannot possibly imagine you'll regret laying out the cash for the Chief. It's perfectly rolled, complex as hell, powerful and delicious.

With the Chief there are two rules for getting maximum performance: (1) DO NOT smoke when humidity in the air is high (during/after a rain, on a humid day, etc.) and (2) smoke SLOWLY, you'll get the full range of complex, nuanced flavors, fast smoking destroys them. These rules go for cigars in general, but are extra important with the Chief.

Note that the box IS NOT HINGED. The first time I opened a Chief box I assumed it was, and the beautiful glossy-finished lid began falling toward the floor, where it would've been scratched or dented. Luckily I caught it in mid-fall! The lid is not attached, so be careful removing it.

Also, right after you open the lid the first time, stick your nose in the box and sniff deeply. Mmmmmr, orange chocolate. It's also in the taste when smoked, too! Never experienced that with any other stick.

Lol, I have yet to find any leaf I have hatred towards. I've been wanting to try the Chief and the Tats for a while and the combo pushed me over the edge.

Much appreciation for the warnings and advice. I will do my best to stick to them for the other 19. But I have zero chill when I get new smokes so that first one is a goner. Think Cookie Monster but with tobacco

Been waiting a long time for the sale and got a sampler just a couple of weeks ago. Not sure how much I will like them. I have some robustos with a year or so rest on them and I still haven't tried one of them yet.

The Robs and Churchills can overheat if you hit them too hard, or too often.
Best to light it good, then go with lighter draws, spaced out enough to keep it cool but lit.
They can be a bit high maintenance, but worth it......for me.
But as I noted in another thread, my stash is now several years old...
May have to grab one next time around........although I’m leaning a bit towards Puddin’s line of thinking, in that for another $10, I can grab some Chiefs or MC3...

There Chiefs are very good but they are definitely higher maintenance than the MB3's which I also like.

Right now looks like the chiefs are $85 with free shipping for one size while the MB3s are $60 so there is enough of a price difference to make a difference when smoking one a day or so and the MB3s are easier to deal with if grabbing a smoke in the cold, on a walk, fishing or anything else.

So....I got both! (Also those small sized 101 Roxxos that are perfect this time of year)

That’s pretty decent for cbid..........MB3 deal is still better when it’s on though......free shipping and $6 less, and you get 3 other bigger vitolas to try out.

^ the "nocturnal" sampler is $80 for now, not sure how long they will run that price or if they will lower it later. The mb3 sampler is on the daily deal today with free shipping, there's also a DPG "heavenly" sampler that's a pretty sweet deal. Herfing

Several interesting deals today. Never had a Cain before so wondering if should spring for that. Have had a few Nubs over the years that were not bad, what do people think of them?

Cain is pretty good. Strong but not complex. Straightforward flavors. Sometimes a tight draw, but usually not. I like the 5.7x50 size the best, it's got the best wrapper/filler balance, IMO. I like the F best, then the regular Habano, then the Maduro least, however the maduro gets better after a very, very long time aging (my 9-year-old batch is really nice, but they weren't nice at 7 years, for example).

Don't over-pay as they aren't amazingly awesome, but try some. If you only get one blend/vitola, make it the F in 5.7x50.

Nubs are too damned short, I feel like I'm being sold half a cigar for a full cigar price, and the stuff about "it hits its sweet spot immediately, while others cigars take 2 inches to get there!" is total marketing B.S. supported by the power of suggestion and the placebo effect ("Wow, I think they're right, it kinda IS really good right away, and other cigars maybe aren't, kinda, because I was just told that, so now I'm convincing myself it might be true!"). Utter B.S. It's a way to justify selling you less cigar for the same money. Brilliant marketing technique though.

Nubs are well-made and taste all right, but I can't get over the marketing B.S. and short length at full price, so I don't buy them. Your mileage may vary.

I should invent, trademark and market the "STUB" chocolate bar. It's like a regular chocolate bar but only half the length, but sold at the same price. Why half the length? Well you see, with regular chocolate bars, the first half of them you eat is not that great, because the chocolate bar hasn't "hit its stride" and "found its sweet spot" yet. With STUB, you enjoy the best part of the chocolate bar immediately! ORDER NOW (SUCKERS!)

I find the MBIIIs to be much better then the Cains. Though I've smoked many Cains, the milder Cain Daytona is my favorite of the bunch. I just feel it has better flavors. I've also found that the Cains at times can be very tightly rolled leading to tight draws.

It looks like the MBIII deal is back on, so get them while you can boys and girls.

On a side note, I was slightly ripped off. There where suppose to be 5 Robustos (5" x 50") and 5 Robusto Extras (5" x 54"). When I got my shipment, I received 10 Robustos and no Robusto Extras. Not enough of a big deal to complain to them about, but I'm wondering if anyone else didn't get the Robusto Extras.

I got my order today and it was as advertised - glad since I like the Robusto Extras. I would send them an email, they seem pretty good to deal with.

A couple years back just the opposite happened to me..........got 10 Rob Extras.....I didn’t complain either.......Whistle

They are pretty close and hard to tell apart visually with my old eyes, I have to touch them.............sometimes a “bigger” Robusto is almost the same as a “smaller” Robusto Extra.
I can see how easy it would be for a picker to goof that up.

Never had a problem with mb3's shipments until last week. Ordered a cain 4pk sampler, received a LAdC 4pk sampler. Emailed, with intentions to return the much more expensive LAdC sampler for the cains I ordered. They apologized, said for me to keep them, they would send the ones I ordered at their cost and I'm thinking "definitely worth the time to send that email"...3 days later I got a package, another LAdC sampler with an apology letter. Brick wall think I'll just leave it there and order the cains some other time.

I've had some cs issues with this place, one that was pretty severe... In that case, the head of cs talked to me on the phone several times and ended up blind carbon copying me on a group email where she completely dressed down her staff... She's also sent me that ladc sampler as an apology before...

They're good folks over there... They don't screw up often but when they do they fix it quick, no run around...

By contrast, that other bidding place that's now owned by this place has screwed me a number of times, and on the few occasions they actually tried unscrewing me, they just ended up screwing me again...

Maybe Think ... my luck, I'll get a Mark Twain sampler and I'll feel like a turd if I complain after getting 8 LAdCs for $12.
Been looking closely at those Hoyo dark sumatra boxes you mentioned, may hafta snag one of them and try ordering the Cain sampler again as an add on.

The Deal is Back, back on again today(2/20)

Been very interesting over there recently. In the past the SUPER good deal on the MB3's happened just a few time a year for a short while then it was gone. Recently, it seems to be on every other week or so for quite a while. Not sure if they got a huge boatload of these in or if they might (finally!) be getting near the end of the MB3 supply (which is supposedly a "limited" release!) and they are clearing out their stock at a good price as they are doing with the Room 101 offerings.

I actually assume it would be he first of those and that, with the FDA rules still hanging over people's head, there will NOT be an MB4. Instead the MB3 will just continue on and on and on as one of those permanent limited releases we all know and love....

There is a difference. Noticable when taken out of the cello. I messaged them as well and they replied back explaining the difference.
Also if you notice the robusto cello have a label that says 5x50
The robusto extra are the ones with out the size on the label
I think the box press on these help make that 54 ring gauge seem smaller and more manageable.
