Palma been seeing Taj Mahal every time I can live. Love his visits in win the stones. Seen a few live in Chicago.

If y’all are bored there is an excellent video out there of the stones crashing a muddy waters club date. Drunkenness and appearances by buddy guy etc.

The stones are truly talented

Sadly, for as long as Taj lived in Hawaii, I only got to see him live, once. And that was back in ‘70 or ‘71 when he opened for the Chambers Brothers (“...time has come today, young hearts can go their way...”).

I’ve had a bootleg copy of Muddy and the Stones for a few years but the video and audio ain’t so good. My copy is also incomplete as it starts in the midst of “Baby, Please Don’t Go” when the Stones arrive at the club and work their way to their table. I should look into picking up the official release....

saw Taj (Springfield MA guy) in a mesmerizing solo stint in Syracuse late 1971/early 1972. Setting was a tiny room, about 35 hippies on the floor, like a large living room.
His show that night was like a lecture/concert...he was teaching as he played and it was awesome.

just remembered the name of the place. Jabberwocky. Gonna research it, will probably be saddened to read it held 250,000 people.

Stephen Stills - self-titled first solo album

“Old Times Good Times” and “Go Back Home” with Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, respectively, are my favorite cuts.

69F / 80% RH / 14 mph - a little bit of sun, little bit of rain, rain coming on Thursday

The Clash - London Calling

One of my all-time favorites.

68F / 83% RH / 15 mph - another cold night out in the garage, rain expected the rest of this week

Was just watching a documentary last night about the rise and fall of the Clash. Unfortunately I started late so it was just the depressing fall half of things

That was followed by a Dropkick Murphys concert in Dublin returning mebto my former elevated spirits

The Cars - Candy-O

Didn’t realize that 10 of the 11 songs are under 4 minutes. They’ll never be confused for a jam band. Cool

70F / 87% RH / 24 mph - another overcast, mostly rainy day

Led Zep Plagerism....very interesting video about the music they claimed without giving the originals credit....really cool to hear how some Led Zep tunes were intended to sound
I much prefer what LZ did with them...

Rick James - Street Songs

Palama, any chance there's some Mynah Birds in that massive library of yours? There was no studio album, but I'll bet there's some bootlegs or demos somewhere. The idea of Rick James and Neil Young has intrigued me for a some time. Dud find a small few on YouTube

Oh dude!

Never heard of the Mynah Birds so Googled it and read about them. Eventually led to more reading about Rick James. Which then led to YouTubing stuff like this:

http://www.cc.com/video-clips/iuegla/chappelle-s-show-charlie-murphy-s-true-hollywood-stories---rick-james-pt--1---uncensored

I don’t know that I would seek out the Motown releases with their recordings but totally cool to learn some music history. Thanks!

Earlier today

Curved Air - Midnight Wire

Don’t really remember their music, maybe more of an East Coast thing. Just really wanted to hear Phil Kohn / Katman’s bass and what Sonja sounded like. As much as I enjoy his reviews and stories from back-in-the-day, will pass on more CA. Sorry Phil.... Unsure

^^ tried that myself after several of his stories. I get how they didn't catch on over here. Don't see how they were so big across the pond. Different strokes for European folks

The Pretty Reckless - Who You Selling For

Decent set of tracks. I was surprised that an actress could put out something better than forgettable fluff. And that they went a bluesy rock route as opposed to straight pop

Alan Parsons - I Robot.

Not sure why ....but it is pretty nostalgiac...didn't exactly wear this one out, but the vinyl did get quite a few spins back in the day. I'm not entirely sure what to make of it now. Too poppy....much of the production is overwrought....kinda pretentious at times...silly at others. Good to revisit, but probably don't really need to do it again for another decade or two.

Bad Company - Bad Company

Loved this album when it came out in ‘74. Was a big Free fan so was only natural to follow Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke. Mick Ralphs was probably at his musical height too.

72F / 81% RH / 10 mph - rain clouds rolling in, batten down the hatches!

Queen - Queen

Watched part of “Bohemian Rhapsody” the other night and it piqued my interest in Queen again. Can’t honestly say that I ever listened to their first album all the way through...till today.

72F / 87% RH / 10 mph - its turned cool but earlier this afternoon it was pretty warm

Loved JC when he first came out. Got “You Don’t Mess Around With Jim” and “Life and Times” from the Record Club of America (...old foggies know what I’m talking about...). I probably bought “I Got a Name” from them too.

Born to Run

The screen door slams, Mary's dress waves
Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays

Nearly every band wishes their SECOND best album was this good.....shame he peaked with Greetings....it was all downhill from the start...lol

For me, the tuba alone drops the entire album to no higher than 3....not just a weak link...it really ruins the whole thing for me....the accordion is just the nail in the coffin....without Wild Billy, I'd be having a different conversation, though

Montrose - Warner Brothers Presents

Tried to listen to earlier stuff, but my extreme dislike for Sammy Hagar prevented me from enjoying....this is much better, even if the songwriting isn't

Trippy as hell, but a relaxing grooving feel throughout the entire album. My favorite of his though opinions may vary
