Here are the guidelines to play; please read all before posting.
Looking for a dozen players with a ship date on or around March 15th.
1. Each player will send five cigars to another player which I will randomly post.
2. Of the 5 cigars, one high end, one medium and one yard gar. The other 2 will be cigars not on cbid auctions.
3. High end above $10, medium $9-$5, yard gar under$5 (no Gurkhas, infused, 2nds or junk)
4. The first 3 listed above will be unbanded and numbered in no particular order.
5. Twist, you must include something from your hometown or homemade, hot sauce, jams or any local treats.
6. Once you receive your box post on thread what you received.
7. Smoke the unbanded cigars in any order and write a review of the cigar.
8. You can guess if it was the high end, medium or yard gar along with the exact cigar if you would like.
9. Senders should not post what they actually smoked until all three reviews are complete.
10. Please try to smoke all three unbanded cigars in a timely manner, within a month.
If you haven’t made and trade on cbid or have questions please pm me.

I enjoy blind review trades.

Copy/pasted Chazbo's thread from last year.

Send to the person below you on the list. List was randomized except for stinger88 sends to me a couple weeks late. Didn't want anyone else to be waiting on a box. PM the person below you for addresses. Lance4824 get in touch with Stinger88 about ship date as he's out of town.

Please try to send out your package by the end of next week (except as above)

I'll play if you need another. Not sure how discerning my palate and subsequent guessing game is though.

Staying with my parents in Orlando, hitting up Legoland with the boy, nothing else planned yet.

Categorizing question: When judging pricing for cigar level, do you all go by MSRP, generally discounted cost on various sites (not counting special deals, clearance, etc.), or what? MSRP seems inflated on average compared to what you can usually get a smoke for.

Valuation is subjective kinda. Which is why no Ghurkas.

You know what a yard gar, mid range, and premium are. If you landed a box of Padron 1926's for $3/per, it's not a yard gar. It's a premium. On the other hand if you bought a box of Diesel's for $200, it's not a premium, it's a yard gar.

The price point is just to give an idea of what we're talking about for folks that are new to the trades. IMO it's what you'd be willing to pay for that particular smoke. I know what I'd buy in the $3 range, the $6 range, and the $10+ range.

Personally the way I pick what to send is to consider the experience of the smoke. Something I'm reserving for a good hour or two isolated from anything else, is going to be the premium I send out. Those are the ones I reserve for sitting by the campfire in my lounger when the campground's gone quiet and wife and boy are in bed. The one I grab when I'm lounging mid day in the hammock at a campsite in the summer is the midrange. The one I have after work/before bed or while on the lawn tractor, or while there's other distractions and won't be mad for tossing it, is the yard gar. I never hit the yard gar price point though, if you consider retail price. I send based on the experience I associate with that cigar.

Look at last year's thread to get an idea of what was sent.

http://www.cigarbid.com/...ar-reviews-with-a-twist

That's why these blind reviews are so much fun. Last year I rated the yard gar as the premium, and the premium as utter trash only to learn that the premium was an ultra premium limited release CC. Doing the reviews really makes you focus on the cigar and IMO it expands your appreciation when you're forced to explain the experience. I type out the reviews from my phone or laptop in the garage while I smoke em so it's string of consciousness/ live. There's no going back/rethinking it, just an honest review.

You could get in on this one as long as you can meet the requirements of the trade. It's not closed yet. Being a very fresh noob, I'll ask you to send first, and confirm receipt and meeting guidelines before passing on your info to the one sending to you, but you can get in on this.

Read up on last year's, http://www.cigarbid.com/...r-reviews-with-a-twist. If you can meet it, sign up.

May as well give it a shot. I don't feel like my palate matches up either, but it'll be fun to try. If I completely screw the pooch, they'll know to organize it in secret next time.

Don’t worry about having to produce a literary masterpiece about the floral notes and the hints of sage or whatever. I like to hear if you thought was good. Was it super spicy, peppery, etc. most of mine have been pretty generic. I am pretty sure one or two over time have just said....”it was an OK cigar”. It is fun trying to guess the cigar and price point. I am pretty sure as a whole group, we are piss poor at guessing that correctly.

That's kinda the point of blind reviews, is to explore the experience without any preconceptions.

You write what you experience.

I got the 3 cigar blind review. The other two cigars are ones not sold on CB or we got somewhere else? If we got them from somewhere else, it might be still sold on CB.....

Just send some good cigars, even if they are sold here. Just don't send average cbid fare

I think the general intent of the "two from somewhere else" provision is that it increases the likelihood that folks get something less common or that they haven't had easy access to.
