How to bid on multiple units

Hi, I'm confused as to how I increase the number of units I am bidding on in an active auction. in the current auction of 4 units, it looks like this:

bidder 1: 1 unit - $12.00
bidder 2: 2 units - $12.00
Me 1 unit - 12.50

I thought selecting two units in the bidding window and increasing my bid to $12.50 each would allow me to take another unit from one of the other two bidders, but it doesn't. Any ideas why not?

If you look at the minimum bid, you probably have to beat the earlier bids by a set amount. A lot of times it is $3. What is it you are looking at?

If this is your auction, you have to bid a minimum of $2 over the two $12 bids.

I just call my account representative, and tell her to freeze the lot so my bids holds...
