Congrats!
Remember, losing a bid is a sign of weakness...
And, let those cigars recover from their travels.........one week in the humi for every day spent in transport.

That's what he said. For my own part, the first smoke of each fiver only needs one second's rest for each day on the truck. The rest can sit a while. Of course, I have no chill with new cigars

I've read a few of Puddin's seminars and understand the concept. But if I have a pack of smokes I haven't tried yet, one of them ain't making it to nap time

In most instances......travel time a couple, three or four days.............no big deal.
But mine take 8 days, or more................and, depending on the weather, etc.................that’s enough to mess with a cigar.
Smoking one ROTT will likely not give me an accurate representation of the cigar...........so I wait.......particularly if it’s a mid range or above cigar I’ve not tried before.
New yard gar? Yeah, I’ll spark it up sooner

You'll soon find that giving your newly delivered cigars a chance to recover is worth the wait because they will be much more "smokeable." When I first started, I would smoke some cigars within a day or two of receiving them...I encountered canoeing, tunneling, uneven burns, hard draws, cigars that went out, harsh ammonia-like flavors...all characteristics that might be attributed to the cigar/maker, but in most cases were caused by moist cigars being stored at too high a relative humidity. Most shops store their cigars at 70 RH +...don't know why 70 RH is considered ideal, but my experience shows that <65% RH is better.

By letting the cigars sit in your humidor, with RH closer to 65, you'll find fewer burn issues and harshness associated with cigars that are too moist...

Pudding Mittens' Extra E-Z Guide To Aging Cigars:

Step 1: buy a lot more per unit of time than you can smoke in that unit of time. Sharpie-date everything (I use month/year format, like "4/19" for April 2019).

Step 2: always smoke the oldest stuff first.

Step 3: there is no Step 3.

Benefits Of The System:

* Aging happens automatically with this system!

* The age of the cigars you're smoking keeps getting longer and longer, automatically.

* You automatically develop an ever-enlarging hoard that is utterly immune to future schitty stuff, such as:

1. yearly price increases
2. legally-mandated dumbed-down, crappy blends
3. legally-mandated ultra-low nicotine limits
4. huge new sin taxes
5. legally-mandated giant box graphics like photos of diseased lungs and invalid warnings that only apply to cigarettes.
6. possible outright bans someday

* You automatically know the acquisition date of everything you have (it's right on the item!), WITHOUT the hassle of maintaining a spreadsheet or database or paperwork of any kind.

This^^
My version is...
Buy twice as many cigars as you smoke per month, every month.......for two or three years.
Then, just buy roughly the number you smoke per month, and you’ll have nicely rested cigars to choose from.......forever, provided you generally smoke your older stock.
You can even set stuff aside for longer rest periods.

Upon arrival~72 hours freezer nap, ain't taking no chances on bugs.

Once the frozen nap is over it's off to the closet humi.I usually wait 1-2 months before trying anything new and if it's a restock item I still have it may be a 1-10 years before I get to it.

Let em rest

When you buy boxes, Do you put the whole box in the freezer or do you open the box and just put the cigars in the freezer?
