The other cbid auction site...

You know, the one they acquired fairly recently, that had really annoying reps and sales tactics back in the day.
Well, their old auction site wasn’t too bad, and sometimes you could get lucky and grab some Fuentes for a good price.
But now, since the “merger”, or whatever, that site TOTALLY blows rhino balz.
It is essentially unusable for me, using an iPad with the latest iOS. It’s painfully slow, I can’t scroll, site won’t respond to gestures, etc.,............... while cbid is snappy.
Any ideas as to why?
Do I need a membership there as well.

********* is the name. I have an account with them. I do like that no matter how much you buy, your order is 7.99 shipping for entire thing.

I had some problems with website functionality too on my tablets but then jumped on my desktop and it worked fine.

That’s wonderful.
Problem is, we’re well into 2019.

Cool. I went back and deleted original post with the name of site.

I agree but I remember even when "the other site" operated separately from bid, everything was outdated and functionally was not as user friendly. Reminded me of a 60 year old shopping online.

Ya very true.......fugly for sure...BUT...
It worked. For me, now it doesn’t................Not a big deal.......plenty of other places to shop.......but their Padron prices can sometimes be ok.

I was no longer the least bit certain of that. It's been a very long time since I've seen a minotaur offer the tiniest amount of clarity on the subject. It was clear for a long time that mentioning CI was OK, because of the relationship between CI/CBID. Clearly there is some sort of relationship between CBID and Thompson auctions....how do we know what is forbidden to discuss?

Well I’m just playing safe.
I still have nightmares of the dungeon. The click clack of La Princessa’s spiked heels coming down the corridor, only to throw cold water on me.
Heck, I don’t even use the “P” word anymore because I’m so traumatized, while Z throws it around willy nilly.

I wasn't aware there was another auction site. Then again, I don't buy cigars from this one (much) so why would I?

What is the name of this place that cigarbid and the swedish overlords now own?

Edit: Oh... didn't know they had auctions. And will they stop selling good cigars (like Padron) now that Cbid owns them?

I get them at $4.20/ea at fiver price..........plus 5 to 20 cents each shipping, depending on how much stuff I buy.
I like em with at least a 1 year nap.....nice, punchy, consistent smoke.

Seriously, apples and oranges for flavor, you know that. It's not always about the price.
Hey, if you show up next month, I'll have a 1926 90th maduro in my Halli for you.

I hear you! Memories of being locked up with no warning. Don't say ANYTHING or else. And one time I had to share the cell with Wheel if can imagine. At least he attracted most of the lashings and it made him laugh even more!

I was commuted from a life sentence so after the lobotomy all I can say is "I know nothing".

And it is trademarked KoC.

I thought I read the B&M for the competitor/partner auction site was being shut down. At this rate there may be only one man standing for online sales when this is all said and done with.

Eh........I hope not, and I don’t think so with respect to online sales.
But the cigar auction format?
Down to three auction players, and one kinda blows.......so imho, it’s the other place, and cbid.
Maybe the whole auction format is becoming more work than is worth it?

Innovative players will come up with ways to capture online cigar dollars.
And this sales tax BS puts a new spin on the biz.
Interesting times...........like Puddin said........if ya can, stock up now.

Closing the B&M for sure. Even when internet service was bad, the in store folks were still great. I wonder if they will give up their "postal code #1 Tampa" when they shift to PA. Started as cigar factory. Mail order business for almost 100 years.

Maybe I can catch a closeout sale.

Shutting doors June 29. Laying off 82 employees. Retail, on line and tech. Moving all operations to PA.

I still have some bonus points to redeem. They let me sign up with no email and I never got junk mail or was hounded in any way.

I was in retail store once and was curious about a cheroot but only came in bundles of 50. Clerk cracked one open and gave me some to try.

5 pack fever with no shipping was also a favorite deal if you got 4. Worked out to $4 a piece for Oliva V Melanio, Herrera Estelli, L'aranga, padron 2000, prensado, Avo Nicaragua, Undercrown, Caldwell and others. Would always walk in with friend and we did splits. If they didn't have something out, they would go back in the warehouse for you.

Staff is real tight lipped about the change but I will try to ask again a out possible sales as the deadline creeps up. They might do something on line too.
