To be fair, all sons should cheer for the Bears. It builds character and nobody ever accuses us of being a fair weather fan

AKDAVE is sitting REAL pretty, only needing Seattle to post a "3" spot to complete his grid.
The closest players behind him all need three more slots, and they are the higher end numbers.

Stinger88 (Dodgers) - 9, 11, 13

delta1 (Orioles) - 10, 11, 13

lance4824 (Cardinals) - 11, 12, 13

Better start swingin' some bats !

I think AKDAVE has this thing wrapped up. It would be different if he had one left and it was a higher number. This contest won’t make it to May.

Bummer because I actually watched some baseball this year. Haven’t watched much in the last 10 years or so.

d'oh! My bad.
I saw ARI and my fog brain immediately said Cardinals.
Hey, I still have trouble not referring to the Colts as the BALTIMORE Colts.
PLUS, I hadn't had my coffee at the time I posted that.
Thank you for correcting me.
I'm happy to know that people are checking the result page !

Package just arrived...I have a very large mailbox, and this box was so huge the mailman left it on my back porch...looks like I have to add "Repair back porch" to my list of chores...Anxious
Damn John...5 is as many as the fingers on one hand....or one less than how many Super Bowl rings Tom Brady and the Patriot's have....Anxious ....
In the box was a nice hand written note explaining how John "couldn't help himself"....Blink
Also included was a box of Tastykakes....Seasonal Mocha KandyKakes flavor, which my wife is eyeing secretly when she thinks I can't see her...
Also included is a 6 pack of Philly Pretzel Factory Soft Pretzels. Soft Pretzels happen to be one of my personal favorites, and it just so happens that I made a batch of homemade honey mustard last weekend that will go perfectly when I dive into these babies....Drool
And then there are the cigars, some real beauties....

Cuban Crafters Cupido Tuxedo Maduro Churchill ...nh

AF Reserva Xtra Viejo #48 Maduro...nh

De Herrera Esteli Natural Toro...nh

Litto Gomez Small Batch #6...nh, and never seen before

DE Undercrown Maduro Belicoso

CH Las Calaveras Edicion Limitada 2016 LC46...nh

EP Carillo Cabinet Gran Duque....nh

Oliva Serie O perfecto...Had and like, but nh this vitola

AF Casa Cuba Divine Insiration...nh...read a review, and this looks and sounds like it will be DELICIOUS!

La Perla Habana Black Pearl Morado Rob...nh, but have one John sent about 2 years ago, which I will be stting on fire this weekend...excited to find out what I've been missing.

Lots of never hads there, makes me realize what a n00b I really am...Anxious

Thank you for this, John...again you have gone above and beyond anything I was expecting...and remember, 5 is one less than Tom Brady's Super Bowl wins.
Now, I'm off to warm up a pretzel and pour myself a frosty beer...Thank you...Beer

Put the pretzels that you are not planning on eating today in plastic ziplock bags and freeze them. They'll stay fresher. Let them thaw at toom temp . Microwaving makes them rubbery.
Oh . . . and FTR. I know how many 5 is.
I just thought that "fiver" was the code word for ANY package sent from the CBid forum, no matter WHAT the contents.

Ok, I forgot about the "code", but I couldn't resist the opportunity to mention the Patriots...and thanks for the advice on the pretzels...do you heat them in the oven to warm them up?

If you MUST warm them up, toss them in the microwave for a short period of time. As microwave power differs between units, I would start with 15 seconds and adjust accordingly.

When John sent his 2015 OpFTH “Spearprize”, he included some of those famous soft pretzels. Didn’t have to worry about any “leftovers”. Drool

If you guys think they were delicious after spending 3-5 days traveling in a vacuum pack bag, whatta ya think they're like right out of the factory oven ?
I buy them from a little old man who has a table set up in front of a Dollar Store about a half mile from the Philly Pretzel Factory. He suffers from Cerebral Palsy and sells pretzels to help pay for his meds.
Most of the time, the pretzels are still warm when I get them.

I have to agree, DELICIOUS!....I warmed one in a bagel toaster, not enough to toast, just enough to get it warm...with a cold beer and my honey mustard...Drool

I think I'm going to do that again today...Beer

Huge Grats AKDave on the first place win! I guess he will find out when he gets back from Italy which is suppose to be on the 1st I think.

I guess that would put Stinger as the winner for Delta's bonus game if I am looking at it right? So, Huge Grats there as well. ThumpUp

Wow, this has to be one of the quickest to finish since I have started participating. Now we just have to wait and see who’s teams can close out theirs. We could still wait months for he next one to close out.

you know the old saying "Close, but no cigar" ?

well, it don't apply here...stinger came the closest to the actual date that the first team filled the 13 run grid, so he wins the "decent fiver" ...

I'm gonna try and get them out to you before you leave for Hawaii, May 20th?
