I like it, but I'm not what you'd call an official approver type.

Frank!!! Danm needs you

Somebody better keep an eye on Frank, he's have grandiose visions of controlling topics. And whatever you do, don't give him a bat.

So this morning, the woman calls me down in a little bit of distress. I come downstairs and there's a smallish (silver dollar maybe) puddle of a very thick looking blood on the kitchen floor, with her slipper print in it, and about 7 more spots of of footprints around it. She's trying to hold down one of the dogs to figure out where the blood came from and also keep the other from licking it.

So I grab the other dog and start looking at it . It makes no sense whatsoever... it's a single puddle of blood. But it's very thick... like, if that much blood came out all at once, you would expect a continuing wound of some sort, it wouldn't stop. I tell her to check the dog's mouth, thinking it had coughed it up.... nothing.

then I tell her to check the weird growth we had seen on the dog's face monday... We were going to have it checked out Friday, but maybe it popped or something. Well.... it's gone. Not popped and bleeding... gone.

That's weird.

so we look on the bottom of her slipper. and there's the weird membrane from the growth right there on the bottom of her shoe.

And then we look up ticks.

So... best I can now understand... the dog had a giant tick on it's face (we have not transitioned this dog to tick meds yet). Fat and full and happy, the tick falls off the dog to go try to find somewhere to lay it's eggs.... and gets stepped on by the woman.

God I hate the midwest. I don't think I'll ever stop feeling itchy now.

I've been hoping for an indian burial ground, but I'll settle for a serial killer's mass grave.

My dogs pick up ticks damn near year round, I'm constantly pulling them off.

They get pretty big when fully engorged on blood.

Here we also have ticks and they can infect humans with lyme disease. We have to vigilantly check for them after working outside.

No, had some flooding issues to deal with at my sister's place in Livingston, so when I landed we headed there right away, and never got back to Houston until late Sunday night. I was hoping to meet up with Greg, but it just wasn't in the cards....Hopefully next time

Wife and I went to 18th street brewery in Hammond for lunch. Only ever been to their Gary location but they don't open for lunch. It was fantastic. Had fried cheese curds, smoked brisket tacos and a Cuban sammich. Also two fantastic beers each.

Pork tenderloin on the grill, collard greens in the slow cooker. Probably all gonna just go straight to the fridge, we're both stuffed.

Would've just put the stuff back in the fridge but the tenderloins sat out to room temp and I'd already heated the chicken stock and ham hocks for the greens so I had to go.

Don't make the mistake Paulie made on Sopranos in the NJ Pine Barrens. When you see blood, pull your gun and look up.

Tenderloins turned out absolutely perfect. Wish i could nail this every time. Dry rubbed and plastic wrapped overnight, left to sweat a bit on the counter for a few hours this morning, then cooked on top rack of fairly cool grill with some wetted peach wood till 145F.

Sliced em on an angle nice n thin for lunchmeat. Cubed the ends, will add em to the collard greens when they're done.

Wife and I are skipping dinner. Still uncomfortably full from lunch.
