Hey y'all - looking for a smooth, slightly sweet chocolatey maduro on the cheap for an easy daily smoke while driving. Reviews on Arganese maduro seem to fit the bill. Anybody have experience with them?

Thanks in advance

Aloha from Hawaii! ThumpUp

What’s your definition of “cheap”? And how long is your drive?

Don't mind at all, but I reserve the right to return fire there ratchet.

BTW - some of the reviews of the Arg Mad say that they have a slightly sweet chocolate flavor.
So what do they really taste like? I mean besides ****, that is.
I'm not gonna waste my good stuff for a car ride, so I'm looking for an acceptable cheap smoke.
Any ideas?

Aloha Palama

Car ride is usually 45 min or so.
Just looking for a smooth simple, one dimensional maduro that I can burn through during the week.
As long as it's not bitter. And cheap is a few bucks each in a bundle.

thanks

Might try one of the HDM or LA maduros. Can usually win an auction for $2-3/per

Pancakes fer sure, occasional waffle OK
Long walks? Depends who with...
Definitely camping. Canoeing. Hiking. Climbing...
Cello on in my variety humidors. Cello off in designated ones.
Definitely MaryAnn. Ginger seems like a prissy b!tch.
I'd have to say Warner. Can't say no to Dr. Fu Manchu
Haven't been in a Turkish prison, but willing to try, and can't get enough of gladiator movies.
Or any Leslie Nielsen movie for that matter. ThumpUp
Dogs. And my one cat who was more like a dog.

Anything else sir?

Hmm, given those parameters, lemme suggest:

L’Atelier Selection Speciale 44 Maduro - on the higher side, used to be able to get them for around $4 each
Man O’ War Puro Authentico Maduro - needs some nap time but good $3 smoke
Oliva Serie G Special G Maduro - can be had for $2-ish per
A. Fuente Hemingway Short Story Maduro - when you wanna treat yourself, gonna run you at least $7-$10
Tatuaje Petit Cazadores Reserva - my favorite short smoke, $3-ish

Good luck with your search.

Tough to find a cheap and good maduro smoke. My everyday is the PDR A Crop maduro. Every once is while I get a really good one and most of them are good yard gars. The robustos can be had for just over a buck if you're patient. Other PDR (and A Flores) maduros may fit your palate better. The Flores SP-52 and Cabinet Selection maduros are a couple of others I smoke. The 1878 Capa Madura robusto used to be a good $ 3 smoke, but recent smokes have been a bit disappointing. PDR reserve limitadas were another of my favs and I still have a box or so of the selection 10 robustos,

I make it a point not to smoke in the car and I really don't like smoking in my truck unless t's a short trip and I happen to have one going and can keep the windows open.

I would have to say, SCHIZO MADURO bundles are the way to go. You can score around $1 - $2 a stick on here. I think.

Or maybe Drew Estate Factory Smokes Maduro.

Welcome btw.

BTW - I smoke in my jeep with the window cracked (or fully open on warm days) with the fan on high, and the smoke just flies right out. Doesn't stink up the jeep. And makes the ride a lot nicer.
Never smoke in the house. Smoke my favorite stuff while relaxing on the deck with some whiskey or red wine while staring out into the valley. Herfing

Still interested where to get the Room 101 smokes you recommended.
I posted the magic word "PLEASE" last night. Does that work?
Or should I duplicate post 8 times again?

Yup. It's a trick that should be more widely known. Crack all the windows just a little bit, only about a half-inch, and put the blower on all-floor at max, or if that's too loud, a notch below max.

The smoke gets sucked right out the window and no smell is deposited on the car interior. If you're moving at a decent speed, it works even better still.

The blower sets up positive pressure in the cabin, and the exits are small (the narrow cracks at the tops of the window), so the velocity of the escaping air is high, so the smoke goes right out. When moving at a good speed, you also have a variant of the Bernoulli effect adding to that, creating a low-pressure area just outside the window crack that makes the smoke leave at an even faster velocity.

Try it!

You got it Puddin!

And when I tap my cigar at the upper edge of the window, the ash flies right out. Sure, I could deposit the ash in my bobken, that's what it's there for after all, but it's so enjoyable to just set it free. Wonder if Bernoulli was a herfer??? Eh?

Unrelated to cigars, but the Bernoulli effect also keeps attics cool and dry, at least in houses with proper ventilation.

Effective ridge vent designs have baffles that set up Bernoulli effect pressure gradients every time the wind blows across them, and those gradients suck air out of the ridge vent, which pulls air in through the soffit vents. This causes the entire underside of the roof to have fresh outside air moving across it almost constantly.

Benefits include greatly prolonged roof life (high heat kills shingles early), a far cooler attic and, by extension, a far cooler floor directly underneath the attic (the second floor in a two-story house, the first floor in a one-story ranch house). This drastically reduces summer cooling needs on that floor, and thus electric bills, while reducing air conditioner wear and tear which increases their lifespan. Another benefit is basically zero chance of wetness buildup and ensuing mold problems in the attic (and by extension the floor below it) ever happening. That's important when 2018 was the rainest/wettest year in US history.

The really cool thing is, there are no fans, electric motors, or moving parts of any kind. The Bernoulli effect does it all automatically, powered by Mother Nature's winds.

Pretty cool stuff!

P.S. -- Sadly, very few houses have proper ventilation as described above. The level of ignorance about the topic in the roofing and construction industry is amazingly high and it's pretty sad. Education about modern, effective attic and roof ventilation systems is nearly non-existent currently.

The cigars that fit your requirement keep getting axed.
Do they still make Partagas Black Prontos? Mb a bit heavier than what you are looking for, but tasty.
L'atelier Travailleurs aren't sweet, but decent size, flavor price for 30-40 minute drive.
Two robs that are bigger than you need, but 'tossable'; Brickhouse maddie rob isn't bad...on sale...& La Palina Oscuro - not sure why these go for cheap here, but a real hidden gem...used to love Kill BiIIs, but they disappeared from auctions and retail is prohibitive

that cigar is awful

take a peak at the 5 vegas A AAA

has to be the triple A

the old ones were great (for the money) and certainly cheap

fit the profile you seek

cant attest to whether the new ones are the same blend as the ones in the past though

I love heavy, but they don't have to be. I love any maduro that has a woodsy to cocoa flavor that leaves a touch of sweetness on the back end. I love Diesel Unlimited Maduro, Unholy Cocktail, MOW Damnation, Ave Maria Argentum, and HC Series M2 Maduro. Big AJ fan. Didn't intend to be, but my taste just led me there.
Matter of fact, didn't want to like Diesel at all. When they first came out, the name seemed a bit hokey, and with having Shorty Rossi as their spokesmodel, it was a bit more cheese than I could handle. But then I tried the Unholy Cocktail, and it just floored me. WOW

Robs are fine, because if I don't finish em, I just light em up later.
And when they're really tasting good, I shove the nub in my pipe and smoke em til they're gone.

Some of my favorite cheapies are VS Connecticut Yankee and REO, but I always like trying new ones.
I just hate being stuck with a bundle of sour tasting turds.

Been looking at the Brickhouse maduro, and interested to try that La Palina Oscuro

Thanks Dstieger!

Don't you have to kill overgrown Smurfs to get that, though?

(God, what an awful movie... looked like 100% of the budget went to CG, 0% to the script because they just ripped off the one for "Pocahontas" and changed only the character names and nothing else).
