IDK, I will have to check later. It is like a piece of furniture and when you lift up the lid there is a record player in there. Has a little selector sw. to choose what speed it needs to go.

I'm just BSing you. Don't sell them. Those are beautiful speakers and even if they don't know it, your sons want them. If for no other reason, those are worth some serious money.

I was kinda figured that, that said, you're welcome to come and audition them.

Our sons do like them, but it's a matter of having enough space to enjoy them. The last couple of years I've been offering them some inheritable items before I check out so they can enjoy them while I can watch.

i had my JBL speakers reconed when the rubber on the cones dry rotted and cracked.......the guy who did it for me charged me near what i paid for the speakers 20 years earlier. He said if it was most any other speaker that old he would have told me to buy new speakers. i dont know about Bose but if it gives you a sound you cant get with new speakers then you may want to do it.

P.S. My JBL's are now going into year 41. They still rock!

P.S.S. If anyone is feeling nostalgic for a turntable, i have a few extras taking up space I would trade for cigars!

I had my L65s reconed once but needs to be done again. d'oh!

Still beautiful after 43 years.

I just excavated my old (1970's) components, after a 20+ year nap in the closet.
I'm gonna take'em to the stereo shop at the local Farmers Market to see if I can sell them, and I have no idea of their value.
(Google was no help !)
Any input from you'se guys would be mucho appreciated.

The equipment:

Receivers
HARMON KARDON Model 730 Twin Powered
HARMON KARDON Model 430 Twin Powered

Cassette Decks
SANYO Model RD 5300
SANYO Model RD 5030

Turntables
SANYO Model TP-1020 Direct Drive, Auto return, DC Servo System
PHILLIPS Model 777 Direct Control Belt Drive

CD Player
SONY Model CDP-270

Thanks.

Those HK's are sweet gear. There is a 730 on ebay right now for $330. You probably won't get that much but don't lowball yourself.

I just called a guy in Southern Kansas that was selling an old Kenwood Model Eleven GX WITH Speaks for $150. I told him to spend 20 minutes cleaning the receiver and he could TRIPLE his asking price

Lost a rack of 80's vintage Kenwood equipment when our house flooded in 8/2016. Prolly could have reconditioned the components but, that was a dark period so I wasn't making the best decisions. The only thing that survived were a pair of Advent Legacy speakers because they were hanging above the waterline on the walls in my shop.

The old guy at the "Vintage" stereo store offered me $20 a piece for the two Harmon Kardon receivers.
I just laughed, (yes . . . out LOUD, Frank), and walked away.

Good for you. F*ck that guy. He's either ignorant of what you got or counting on the ignorance of others and ripping them off

Hello ya Bastids....

Unfortunately they're not with us here in MI. but back home in IN is a 1970's Macintosh amp and pre-amp built in to a custom wall rack I made along with a Technics 60+1 cd player and a four pack of Polk Jr.s.

KLF Model 20...probably posted here earlier.

Couldn't cite the specifics right now, but a nice Technics set of matching components with turntable in the unused family room downstairs.

I visited "RETRO ADDICTS" in York, pa the other day...

Tons of vintage stereo equipment, all refurbished totally
By experts...

These vintage stereo shops have a Bit of an attitude ...though..plus they charge BOO-KOO $$ FOR ANYTHING THEY HAVE...
IF YOU WANT SOMETHING FIXED...THEY WANT $80 AN HOUR...
HE said that it is a labor of love on the part of the owner to fix or refurbish anything and you have to love the stereo and expect a very salty bill when completed...
Refurbishing old stereo equipment has become a RICH MAN'S GAME, only they can afford it...

I asked how much to refurbish a "blonde" wooden all in one turntable, reciever and speaker in one piece I got outta the trash...he said over $500 at the very least...

F**K THAT NOISE...IN SPADES...

I'LL SELL IT TO A RICH PRIIIICK FOR $30 AND SAY
"NEEDS RECONDITIONED...AS- IS " ON THE TAG AT A FLEA MKT...

Last night Stinger and I went to a cigar event hosted by Bang & Olufsen and a local cigar company and didn't realize that B&O no longer sold hardware. Back in the '70s, their linear tracking turntable was soooooo elegant! But, fast forward 40-ish years and apparently they changed their business model and are now into headphones, speakers and TVs. The stuff we listened to was very good and their top-of-the-line powered speakers were excellent...but far, far, far beyond my budget. The one product that had me intrigued was their "lunchbox" bluetooth speaker but at $499, out of my range for that type of speaker.

Later we went to the McIntosh demo store and listened to some really, really nice Italian handmade speakers played through an integrated Mac amp (combo tube and solid state). The speakers were beautiful and also sounded excellent. The $30,000 price for the pair kinda left me breathless though....

So ultimately I came to the conclusion that whenever it is that I "rescue" my Sony receiver, tape deck, CD player and JBLs from storage and bring them home, there'll won't be any upgrading to anything close to esoterica (...and I'll be perfectly fine with that...).

No it isn't. It CAN be but I dabble in vintage stereo and I'm not rich by any stretch. I do most of my own work. Most problems can be fixed by a good cleaning...you just gotta know what to use. I suspect your stereo shop told you 500 on that integrated unit because they knew it wasn't worth spending time on. On other gear, a $500 refurbishment is money well spent. To get comparable quality on new equipment, you will spend thousands. See Palama's post. You gotta do your research and keep your eyes open. Right now, there is a Pioneer Quad Receiver and 2 Technics T100 speakers for sale in Kansas City for 185 bucks. I guarantee I could it for 150 if I wanted it. A few minutes with a cleaning product called Deoxit and some Isopropyl alcohol and I got a very nice system for less than 200 bucks.

True! And a lot of excellent equipment is trashed or sold for peanuts because it is inherited by folks that are not interested or live in too small a space.

Twice I have repaired my Hafler amplifiers, made easy for me because of I still have the assembly manuals that the original owner used to assembly them. It's not much different from cars, people today will drop $10k hang someone build them an engine that back in the day they would rebuild themselves for a lot less money.

For years i have owned a quad receiver but never had anything quad to play on it so always had it turned to stereo. Problems with static and loss of sound when turning the volume knob...sometimes lose all sound unless I jiggle it.....suspect there is a spray cleaner for that.
